Default 01 Lightning vs 99 Trans Am

Well I dont know if you guys remember a while back I posted a guy in my town has a lightning that his friends wer talking bout me running. So tonite I decided to run him. His got exahust that I know of. I have 3.23's,lid,K&n, and hooker catback. Intially he was going to bet $100 I would get beat by 5 or 6 cars a few months ago. So we run straight up. I jump him a little off the lone. The first time I jump him a little off the line. When I come off the line I baby it till like 10 or 15 mph and floored it. So when I floor it I spin all the rest of 1st and 2nd snatches the car sideways and I have traction! When I get traction I was pretty suprsied I pulled bout a car and half. I ended up wining by half a car. Second time I same thing with the traction issue through 1st and he beat me by one. So how did I do? If I could even get a little traction out of 1st I would be fine because he was pulling me when I had traction at all! I have the power just cant plant it for ****! Any things I can do to plant it? Keep in mind I live and home 18 and my mom and dad DO NOT APPROVE OF RACING!

Nitto Drag Radials - $260 bucks or so from discount tire.. Still last a good 10k-15k miles.. Heated up real good, I can slip my clutch in from 3k real fast, and it will spin just a tad at the top of 1st, and then kick sideways a tad when shifting with minimal spin. Should be good for .1 or .2. This is with near stock power, and 4.10 gears

When I move out and go to college tis fall I am going to buy some nittos. But right now living at home thats one of those things that would be wayy too obvious to mom and dad. It is just riiculous how much tire spin I am getting from 15 to 35 after babying it off the line.

Im not like a real hardcore street racer. So I dont think I need a drag radial. What about this nitto tire on the link I put at the bottom of the post? So if I went with the nitto drag radials out back when it came time to rotate my tires and crap.....obvious I cant through em up front. S thats my only concern really. Also wha tires could I put on the front to make the rear look as a set off 4 instead of two diff set? Would the link the tire I supplied in the link appear to be the same tire?

Just get some new tires. You should not be having the problem THAT bad. Or maybe your definition of babying is our definition of dropping the clutch and flooring it. Either way you should have won both times.

Ive got an a4. I stalled it up to 1500 rpms and really babied the hell out of it(gave it like 1/2 throttle) till 10 or 15 mph, didnt really spin much. Then pushed the rest of the pedal to the floor and from about 15 mph to 35mph I spun and hooked when I hit second.

If you want a sneaky to gain tration and fool your parents is to find a new set of tires that you like and look @ the tread rating. The lower the rating, the softer the tire and better traction/grip. This isn't fool proof, but it's a good start.
