Hey guys my buddy just got a 05 GTO(A4). I have a 00 Ws6(M6). I'm just wondering if I have a chance at the strip? Both cars are bone stock, both have street tires. Mine are BFG 275, his are BFG 245

u have a very good chance if ur a good driver... im pretty sure the new 05 gto is supposed to run high 12's low 13's and ur car being a m6 with a decnet driver can easily hit low 13's. usually...

im not sure how fast those 6.0 GTOs are, but they are supposed to be heavy and with you running 13.7 id say dont screw up shifting and youll win, not by much tho

i've only ran once. Traction was my biggest issue, bald tires.

So you're both on the same tire...you've just got a little more rubber on the ground. Those tired can hook if you know how to drive.....i'm gonna give the advantage to the GTO on this one.

Those are my regular street tires; I've had them at the track - you're going to have to go easy out of the hole with them.

Pontiac claims 13 flat at 108 for the a4 13.1 at 107 for the m6. It should be close dont underestimate the 6.0 it feels stronger than my Hawk. If it wasnt so heavy it would be a beast. Im going to the track on Saturday to see what it will do, mine is bone stock 600 miles. Just go race for fun what can you lose.

Yeap,
The new GTO for 2005 runs low 13s with a 6 speed bone stock. They are now the 400hp standard unlike last year's model with only 350hp.

So, I still predict it wilil run low 13s with an auto if he can drive it. Same with you. It's going to be a driver's race.

It's gonna be all driver. Go to your local auto zone and pick up a 52" belt for your car and bypass your power steering and pull your filter out at the track. That should be enough to give you the win without getting too crazy. You can switch out belts in a matter of minutes. Drop you tire psi. to about 14, that should help you hook

please kill the gto. if not he will think he's bad like all the drivers i ran it to do. the gto was not well thought out from gm. they take a name like GTO and put it on a grand prix look alike,the car should of had a muscle car look to it.

Do not be a lame ***. the GTO IS bad. Also, for the ws6 guy, there is a post on the gto part of this forum of a stock 05 auto running 13.05. I think you are toast if you are both stock unless he just does not know how to get off the line. There also used to be a video of an 05 versus T/A with intake and T/A got beat 2 out of the 3 runs from a dig. T/A won when GTO didn't launch well. So have fun!

For a lid and cutout f-body I'd call it a drivers race, as the two of you sit now, im giving the edge to the Gto. Good luck on this one.
