If you call 5.0's ricer than we must also include LT1's, 3rd gens, Cheaper LS1's and anything else that can be had for about 6k or less. All these cars are the prized possessions of the 16-20yr. old crowd....and yes many of them are ricers.

Yea thats exactly what i am saying. Its not so much the car, but the price and what buyer's price bracket they fit into. 5.0's have been around for SO long that they are getting insanely cheap, and this is the reason why ricers are buying them. It could happen to lt1's and ls1's easily as well since they are getting cheaper and cheaper to buy, hopefully that isnt the case though.

Bypassing the smog pump is worth loads on these cars. I would say 25 is EASY w/ short belt, (11hp on dyno) and home made ram air with pulley's would net an easy 25 rwhp.

Maybe 10-15 flywheel hp, unless using ricer math. Go see how many stock 5.0's are making 215rwhp with the only mods being a short belt and gheto ram. If your mod math is correct this would have to be the case. Go ahead and check, then get back to me.

Just found a dyno someone posted on the corral out of some 5.0l performance book and they gained 5rwhp/5ft.lbs at peak with a shortbelt on a stock 5.0. Wish I knew how to post the link, but I don't.

I'd say with pullies, ram air, short belt, no silencer and bumped timing.....you MIGHT get 20-25rwhp if the tune is spot on. With just a shortbelt noway.

11 rwhp for a short belt. I know for a fact. I didnt say they would make 215 rwhp, but it should pick up 20-25 easy with those mods. The smog pump bypassed on my 90 model was just as much a increase as the gear install. I dont know the math, but my old 89 was all stock engine, with pulley's. home made CAI, and full length belt w/ 3.55 gears 178,000 miles, all stock internals, stock headers with flowmasters went 8.52 in the 1/8 mile I dont think that sounds like 175-180 horsepower working? I beleive that is some decent power for the mods on a 302. BTW, the car weighed 3360 or 3340 with me in it. Oh, yeah, forgot to add in bumped timing. at least 14 degrees.

youre talking not fast and the car in your sig runs 13.53 ??? I dont claim that to be blazing for an LS1.

You didn't say it, you inferred it. If a stock 5.0 dyno's 190rwhp and you add 25rwhp, that= 215rwhp. 190 + 25= 215. So yes if your shortbelt gains are accurate, a stock 5.0 with a shortbelt would have to dyno 215rwhp.

I would come closer to saying a stock 5.0 would dyno 175-180 hp as the norm, but thats just me.

I'd say with a shortbelt, pulley, ram air, no silencer, and timing bumped...you MIGHT get close to 25rwhp.

98Supersport...I wouldn't downplay 5.0's too much with a 13.532(not that it's a bad time!)....A gear, exhaust, free mods, drag radial car will be nippin at your heels.

You have lowered your idea of stock 5.0 dyno #'s from previous posts in this forum, and have increased the amount of mods needed to reach your 25 rwhp. You keep changing things. Your 1st post said gheto ramair, mobil1 and short belt=25rwhp. This would make 215 ish rwhp from your previous idea of stock 5.0 dyno #'s. And yes, stock 5.0's dyno from 180-190rwhp.
