Cocky F-body guys.
I read the street racing fourm all the time, and I've noticed that us F-body guy kinda come off cocky sometimes (not ricer cocky... just really confident). And then I started thinking about it, and I realized that there isn't much out there that can beat an F-body. (stock cars only, any car can be fast with enough money)
So lets think about it, cars we can beat:
Mustangs
New GTOs
350Zs
3000GTs
SRT4s
300C/New Chargers
Corvetts (in a strait line theyre about equal)
Rice (civics, acuras ect...)
And the only cars we really need to worry about are:
03/04 Cobras
STis/Evos (from a dig)
300C SRT8s (maybe)
Everything else is ether way out of our price range (think viper) or modified.
*This is only my opinion baised on what i have seen and read here, Im posting this to see what other people think, not start a flame war!*

i agree with everything above except the corvette........well i sorta believe it. half of the corvette owners are old rich guysthat cant drive it like its suppose to be driven, so thats why we can mostly beat em. good driver in a stock vette vs. good drvier in an fbody, the vette will barely win just bc of weight differences. thats just my opinion.

Due to a slight weight increase in the f-body vs the Corvette, at top speed f-bodys have more momentum and are faster than Corvettes....a lot of people died bringing that info into public forums...lets pray....

yes, but if an 03/04 cobra driver is average and unmodded, a skilled 01/02 LS1 can take them out, seen it. I have seen bone stock 03/04 cobras w/ average drivers run 13.0's--13.2's or worse, therefore if you get a great driver in an LS1 the cobra can be beat. Most of the time the cobra(stock) will edge us out.
And an STI or EVO VIII will ****** us out of the whole most of the time, but by the time you hit 3rd gear it's bye bye time, make sure you wave to them as you walk past.

"...Everything else is ether way out of our price range (think viper) or modified..."
so you are acknowledging price matters? i agree. money buys speed. the fastest bone stock cars are typically the most expensive. always been that way, in general. makes sense to me.
but when you say, "...and I realized that there isn't much out there that can beat an F-body..." you are quickly forgeting the relationship between money spent and the results that you seem to acknowledge in your other statement about "price class".
is it fair to compare an $80K viper to a $30K ls1 camaro? nope.
but then again, is it fair to compare a $30K ls1 car to a $20K srt4? nope.
dollar for dollar, there are a lot of cars, dozens of types, that will outperform an ls1 f-body or even an ls2 vette....but that factors in modifications, dollar for dollar.
no flaming here, but to honest to ourselves, you can spend a hell of a lot less on a hell of a lot of other cars and get a hell of a lot more performance (ie: ET's) than same $ spent on an ls1 f-body. you might have to modify the other car, but by spending a lot less money you get a lot more car. it's all in what you want, doesnt make one or the other better.
you live and die by the same rules i say.
that being said, the ls1 f-bodies are one the the quickest stock cars for their time.

JK, I see your point, but F-bodys beat up cars that cost quite a bit more than us, and i can't think of any car under $30K that can beat us. So I count it as a win one way or another. (remember I'm talking STOCK only, sure you can buy a striped down Fox-body and get it to run 10's for what I paid for my car, but it isnt stock or very streetable)

I completely agree with everything posted in this thread. But 03+ Cobra's are verrrry badass imo!
point in case: http://videos.streetfire.net/Player....233F8C1AFE&p=0
If it was cheaper, this is one car I wouldn't mind selling the Camaro for!

I agree with you man. F-bodies should get respect but, I have never been beaten by one. Doesn't mean they can't,...just haven't ran across one yet.
I would say, the only cars ANY of us have to worry about are,...and I hate to say it but,...SRT-4's(I've raced some fast ones(anywhere from 365 whp to 480 whp) and beat em on motor but,...it was neck and neck for a bit) SOME COBRA's.....a few vipers, vettes(some), and maybe an evo but.
Anything LIGHT enough with forced induction is gonna give us a run for our money.
Thats why every one of our cars, should have nitrous.
Keep up the cockyness gentlemen,...nothing wrong with it.

The 5.0 was the baddest thing out there in the LATE 80's/early 90's in its price range, the LT1 then took over, now its the LS1 that is impressing everyone. Soon, the EVo X will be out with a rated 350bhp and will probably hang with the LS1 up top and kill it out of the hole. After that, who knows? But yes, the LS1 is the pinnacle of achievement for the late 90's/early 2000's in its price range in this country.

I disagree with the evo thing bro.
