Default Stock 02 WS6 vs Lancer Evo?

A guy I work with has a Lancer Evo. He just put a manual boost controller on his car. He bumped his boost up to 21 psi. He is talking a whole bunch of now. My WS6 is pretty much stock. It's a six speed, and I think it has a corsa, I bought the car used so I'm not sure. What are my chances of putting this clown in his place.

None...at least not from a dig, and pushing 21 psi he will be tough to take from a roll. Just race him though and if you lose all the more reason to mod your car. Def go from a roll if possible though!

At 21 pound's of boost he's gonna be pretty quick.
I think he will take you but run him anyway.

N.O.LA-WS6,

Don't listen to these guys. Stock Evo's run 19 lbs. of boost so this is only 2 more lbs, that's like 20 more hp. Almost all stock and lightly modded Evos at my track run anywhere from 13.3-13.9 @ only 101-105 mph. Remember you have an 02 LS1 which along w/ 01's run very strong straight from the factory (see my sig), plus you have an exhaust which will offset those 2 extra lbs. of boost.

Having said all this, it is still advantages for you to race from a roll but I still think that you can take him from a dig if you know how to launch. From a roll, I think that you will murder him with that hellacious 3rd gear pull and the LS1 topend.

Let us know how it goes. Good luck (although you won't need it)

LoL true, and im only stating my experinces with 5 of my buddies who all have evo's. I havent seen one yet that only has a manual boost controller and nothing else done so im assuming he might have some extra mods, but at 21 pounds of boost still from a dig he will get taken and from a roll i think the Evo might still have him, only thing to do is race though...

Yeah and mine is only 6lbs more of boost too bad i'm over 400 whp and 400wtq.

if he's tuned he'll be in the 320-330 whp range.

Just race him and find out.

The WS6 has a chance it all depends on the driver, both are mostly stock ,and both have young drivers now the only ? is who's going to **** up and miss third gear!

he will get you off the line. but you wil start reeling him in. set a guidline for a top speed. or distance. because second he see's you coming back he will shutdown. the new evo are really really quick and not as weak up top. they can run low 13's and 12 stock i belive. but they have to launch really hard for those 12's

Actually it depends on the year EVO. An '03 or '04 with a MBC at 21 will be running low 13's to very high 12's depending on driver. Now a new '06 9 with a MBC would be mid 12's easy as they have had several high 12's ran stock.

Hahaha...

I was going to say the same thing. It could go either way if they race a 1/4 mile depending on driver ability. A buddy of mine did run a 13.0 @ 99mph (1.78 60ft) on his bone stock tarmac black 04 EVO 8. The T/A can very easlily see tailights in the 1/4 if the EVO driver can launch worth crap.

I dont know about the 21 lbs of boost, but i raced a newer stock evo in my lt1 with mods in sig (this was before lt's and cutout)

Wasted him off the line and took him out by atleast car and a half in the end

The ngk plugs i knew nothing about, until i got into getting ready for the headers and noticed everyone was putting them in. They work great for me even with the stock wires, i have taylor wires laying around and will put them in when i get the chance. The ngk plugs are cheap so....why not right?

BTW thanks for the compliment.
