i got this kid at work who talks major smack about american muscle. he wants to race his "modified silvia" against me. he wants to race the srt8, i told him if hes got any decent work done that he can race the TA. i guess these are the nissan 240zx or something like that. any idea how easy they are to mod or what they are capable of?

he said hes gotta get some new tires for it...i said if hes getting new tires im running on slicks. told him to put up or shutup. i dont think this car can be quicker than a 12.30 personally. he was telling someone else that hed smoke anyone else on the street. i have no clue what these cars are capable of. ive never even seen it.

I raced a s13 with the sr20 turbo motor(I think)...He would hang with me 1-3rd gear but then I would start to walk him after that. We raced about 5 times and it just kept getting worse and worse for him each time. this was with my 200lb self and two other passangers that weight 300lbs each.

I forgot to mention he ended up getting pulled over by the CHP after our last run

If it's NA, it's a pile and going nowhere. I don't think 240s were ever sold with turbos in the states. If he does have one it's just like anything else with a turbo...as fast as he wants to pay for it to go.

i raced a guy who had one imported from japan (turbo). he was fast as hell at the time i had 415wrhp and he hung right with me on the interstate.

a REAL sylvia is turbo charged, its a different engine and front valence on a 240sx. they are on par with turbo supras, they can be fast.

If it's NA you should bet him big money. If it's turbo it's anyone's guess. There are not many real Silvias in the US, he's probalby some poser ricer.

my friends are into those cars, and the swap is realatively inexpensive and pretty easy, so assume nothing

well he said it was a 240...but he keeps refering to it as the "silvy". this guy talks out of his *** more than anything i think. i will ask if hes got a turbo on it because i thought he said it did. he also said theres no way in hell my magnum ran what it did. i tried to bet him cash money that it would throw down 360 rwhp stock, he wouldnt take it though. talks a lot of **** but doesnt seem to back it up.

so...turbo=i should be scared. no turbo=no worries?

There are only a total of about 5-8 real silvias in the U.S. They cost a pretty penny to make fast though. They are far from on par with a supra, they are lower on the food chain then the EVO and STI. There a FEW fast ones, but the vast majority are slow. I'd say IF he is turbo think of it as a IRS RWD wrx, take his *** from a dig. And i have driven a modded Silvia (a real one), unimpressed.
There are a few making about 6-800hp, but very few and only in japan as far as i've seen. The most you will honestly see from one here would be in the 550hp range if they know what they are doing and have the $$$$ to back it up. Most sr20det conversions never make it past 400hp, it's just bragging rights to most people.

He sounds like douche anyway, just take his money. Almost all ricers with a 240sx refer to it as a silvy, it does not nessesarily mean it has an engine swap.

well i asked him if it was turbo today, and he said yea it was.

then later he tells me he is having traction problems (whatever that means) and that he will have to start in second gear and will give me 1 car length.

either he is incredibly stupid, incredibly cocky, making this all up, or has a 9 second car. last month he was telling me i better be quicker than 10s. it seems like hes making it all up because he doesnt look right at me when he talks <shrug>.

when i said 1 car length i asked which car he was gonna race. he said either.

Don't know anything about this dude, but a guy 30 minutes away from me made 667 whp in his 240 with a T66....

this kid sounds like an idiot. he probly keep reffering to it as a silvia because he has a sr20det swap. the car has potential, but from the soudns of this clown it's probly nothing more then boltons. go take him out and report back with a video.

a silvia is like some kind of japan only made car, what a dumbass ricer if he keeps referring to his nissan or whatever it is he has as a silvia. the rice boys sort of like to worship the silvia in a similar way as the skyline. if your running 11's he cant touch you without having seriouss crap done do it. id make him put money on it
