Default I must have a really good running freakin Lt1

Ok... I started figuring some of these LS1 drivers were jsut retards, but a personal friend (middle aged man) recently came up next to me at about 45 mph.

Now the last LS1 race was from a stop and I pulled him through first (mine is a A4, his m6) and then hit second and he started a slow pull. I figured I was just lucky enough to find a shitty driver.

Well now my friend got next to me in his 2002 WS6 m6 T/A and we went from a 45 roll. To about 80 (not long, but long enough for a m6 ls1 to put a distance on a lt1 auto) he pulled so my front bumper was at his quarter. I know he aint a bad driver.

How is my car even daring to hang with the LS1 cars? My motor is brand new, but it still should get ripped apart by these cars...

Only thing i can imagine would be he was playing with me, but im going back for blood.

I have absolutly destroyed every single other LT1 car in this town. They hold nothing to my car for some reason. I have raced a LS2 GTO and surprised to see my car hang with im also.... Whats the deal?

It doesn't make sense for a M6 LS1 to not put more on you. You can see what my basically stock M6 LS1 ran in sig.

However, that LT1 in my avatar was also mine. It was a A4 2.73 stripper car. Bone stock it ran 13.6 @ 102. I've seen plenty of early model LS1 A4's run mid 13's so it's believable that a really strong running LT1 could hang.

Unless there was something wrong with the car or he was just a horrible driver it doesn't make sense.

Enjoy your kill but just don't get it in your head that you'll be able to hang with all M6 LS1's. It's definately not the norm.

You can beg all you want.

Show me a stock LT1 that has run 12.7's and trapped almost 110 then we'll talk.

12.7s stock is NOT the norm, either. In fact, it's rather freakish.

My buddies LT1 has gone 12.7s at 106 with the same mods as me (full exhaust and a cai), just better tires. Mine will be running similar times shortly. It's not hard at all in an LT1.

Lol, a 12.7 LT1 with a CAI and cat-back...now that's funny.

Who exactly do you expect to believe that?

I didnt think so...

Put tires and wheels like that on a 97 SS M6, and youre talkin a very low 13.

Don't turn this into an argument.

Yes it ran the same #'s on stock tires/wheels.

I put Draglites on for looks and because I had plans to put a 9" in. I couldn't leave any harder on DR's than radials

I'm not trying to turn this into an arguement. I don't see how any of you can sit here with a straight face and tell me that two basically identical cars, one with an avg of 240whp and one that avg 300whp is gonna run the same number.

I've owned both and loved my LT1, I got nothing against them. But I also know that stockish for stockish, or evenly matched bolt-on LT1/LS1 cars are NOT going to run together. The LS1's are faster.

Not really anything to argue about IMO.

I agree with you. I think Urban's example is a lil' far fetched, but who knows. I have a couple buds with LS1's, I am well aware of thier capability.
In fact, I almost bought one.
Besides the engine, didn't really like anything else, but that is just my opinion.

I wrote the differ part as friendly goof, because I have put some money into my Z. Thats all.

Sheeit.
_________

And just a note.... I also agree with you that 250hp is about the average dyno for a stock LT1, give or take. But 290+ torque is also the average.
And torque is what gets you there, especially the 0-100., and thats what makes a V-8 a V-8.... Torque... and you should know since you had one, LT1's have plenty of it.

No I don't, because that's not what I said A cai/catback car with street meats will prolly run a 13.7 at best.

I have LTs, ORY, 3" dump (I have a magnaflow catback but unhook it at the track), CAI, M/T ET streets, LCARBs and LCAs. My friend with identical mods (though he ran a full catback with a bullet muffler) ran 12.79@106 at his best on a 1.8 60 foot. It runs 12.9s very consistantly. I'm running my car tonight, and am hoping to hit 12.9s. I trap 105.5, which is more than enough MPH.

It's easy in these cars, you just have to mod them right, and drive them like you stole them. Sure LS1s are faster before you tear open the motors, but I'm just trying to say that LT1s aren't slow, especially if you know what you're doing and set it up right to ET down the 1320.

Keep in mind, this is not an average time for LT1 cars.. these are good condition cars with good drivers with lots of experience beating the holy hell out of them down the 1320.

I dunno... this is jsut my experience... I smoke the new mustangs... and hang around with the ls1 cars. There was one ls1 that demolished me. But the 3-4 other i have raced did not pull as hard as i expected them to....

next time imma spray or it will be after my custom turbo is finished and I should be king of the f-bodys around here.

id say go run a guy in an a4 ls1. and watch as he walks away from you. i ran 13.5@104 stock. with a 2.091 their are to many variables to judge vs an m6 ls1. if the guy is mediorce at shifting he turns a low 13 second car into a high 13 second car. and those 05 mustangs have the potential to be a 13.5@104 car. a completely stock one driven by an old race verteran ran against me last night at beech bend and almost beat me. i got a 2.1 60ft spun off the line and he instantly got ahead of me and i had to catch him back.

oh and im an Auto convertible TA. ill gladly run any "strong Running lt1" and walk away from him easily. even when i was stock.... an lt1 shouldnt hang very well vs an ls1 from a roll.

there were several brand new mustangs at the track and none of them even broke into the 14's (look at my altitude... DA was 6800 feet)

Mod for Mod there is no comparison.... My LT1 TA was an M6 (K&N FIPK, Flowmaster Catback) I caught up to the guy who bought it not too long after I sold it. At the time the only thing I had was a lid. From a dig, he got a pretty good jump on me with the 3.42s but around 50mph I walked him. From a roll I put 2.5 cars on him 3 different times from 30-80. I loved that car and I still think that LT1s sound better than LS1s, but there is no argument in which car is stronger. NONE.
