Default Lt1 Bolton Times?

Got a buddy with a bolt on Lt1. He has full intake, catback, new lca's, sub frame connectors, short throw shifter and a pulley. My Ls1 has a catback, filter and TB Bypass. I was wondering how we match up>? Let me know something...thanks in advance Josh.

If thats all he has then you should take him. If he has gears or other unknowns than the outcome might be different.

i was kinda wondering if the throttle body bypass was worth getting, does it make your car run funny, especially in the cold

Back to '02 i managed to ran 13.3 at 105mph in my '95 Z28 A4 with full bolt-ons & some suspension works 3.23's , so if he could power shifting very well it's gonna be close in 1/8 mile since he's running M6 but ya gonna got him at 1/4 mile line

good luck !!

peace

A buddy of mine has a 96 T/A auto w/3.73 gears, pulley and only managed a 14.2. He now has long tube headers. I raced him the other night and got him by at least 5 cars and i also had a 200lb pass. You shouldnt have a problem winning. Good luck

You should win in the 1/4, unless you can't drive.
Don't take all LT1's lightly...my brother's '94 LT1 with only intake and catback runs a 13.7, did I also mention it's got over a 100k mi and on stock 16'' rims with KUMHO's 712 (not great for the track).

I don't see headers, gears (or a stall) on that list so you should take him no problem.

I had 3.73, 160stat, 275 rear tires, lt4 kit (intake, hotcam, 1.6rr, whole kit) on a 1996 trans am, automatic, no stall. The owner before me ran a 12.7 at like 106-107mph. When I got it from him he put the stock exhaust on it, so I only put down 297rwhp and 307rwtq. But I did beat a few GTOs and Stock LS1's

Just to close this thread out we only got to do a 3rd gear run and I pulled him by 2 cars. Fastest lt1 I have race though. The entire third gear was close...Josh.

The LT1 needs a shift kit, gears and headers.
LS1's are so potent up top.

Race him from a dig.

On LS1Tech.com those LT1 mods are good for mid-11's.

On the street, depending on how well the LT1 has been cared for, it could be anywhere from mid-13's to mid-14's.

Here's an idea, run him

If you can only get mid 14s out of that car, you shouldnt be drag racing let alone driving.

Auto or six speed lt1..buddies six speed with mild mods and drag tires manages high 13s on drag radials at local track.Track is 1700 feet above sealevel so car would run mabye a mid 13 at sea level. His car has no headers, heads or cam. Just intake, catback, little stuff.
My 96z vert runs 13.7 or so but is very heavy. You can see the mods in sig.Cam is not installed or is the nitrous.
Most ls1s run in the mid thirteens to low 13s at our track in comparison.Generally you have about 50 hp more in your ls1 over an lt1 since the ls1 were about 50hp underrated. Now if its a manual ls1 against auto lt1 more like 75 or more hp due to drivetrain loss in the auto.
I raced buddies stock auto lt1 ta with my stock 99 ta ws6 m6 and he thought I had nitrous thats how bad I beat him.He made me open the hood.
That all said I love the lt1 motors they are mean down low and can be fine up top with the right mods to cam and springs. They sound great also.
