TA vs 3000GT
i was out takin a drive the other night just for fun right and im just crusin along mindin my own business, and this 3000GT pulls up next to me and just keeps mattin the gas but i dont really like to race a lot around her ebecause there are to many cops around but he just kept on doin it and doin it...anyways he takes a right on some clear road so i was like wht the hell so i followed him and he gets on it as soon as he straightens out, so i get on it hardcore smokin my tires as i pass him, i ended up killin him real bad....funny thing is he kept goin straight and i turned around and started to head back toward my house and i see him again like 5 minutes later on a different road so i turned and followed him again and i pulled up next to him and he didnt do ****.

The NA models were mid 15 AT BEST (stock). The autos are even slower. My friend had a '94 3000GT base (manual) with exhaust & intake and ran a 15.7 on the GTech. My '96 Stealth R/T (auto) BARELY beat my parents '03 Grand Prix GT.........lame.......at least the Stealth looks better.............

Definitely could have been the Twin Turbo VR-4 model. They are dogs from a roll, considering its a 3800lb car with a V6 and bad turbo lag. From a dig they can hang because of AWD, but an LS1 will rape them from a roll

A VR-4 weighs around 3,800. The Spyder model was over 4,000lbs. How fast they are depends on the driver and condition of the car. A stock '96 Stealth TT ran 13.0 and a stock '99 VR-4 ran 13.4. I wouldn't call that slow.........but I've also seen a lightly modded (intake, boost controller) VR-4 run low 14s-low 15s. The car had a slipping clutch, so the driver couldn't get a good launch. A '91-'93 TT is capable of high 13s and a '94-'99 TT is capable of mid 13s. Not blazing fast, but on par with LS1 times......granted the LS1 traps quite a bit higher. Keep in mind a 1G TT gets about 230awhp and a 2G TT gets about 240awhp. Throw on an intake, boost controller, exhaust and they're not all that bad from a roll. Our '95 Stealth TT (intake, testpipe, boost controller) held off a stage III 300ZX TT (intake, ECU chip, exhaust, boost controller) from 5-140......

3000 gt's aren't much of a match for an LS1, especially one with LT's, they are a bit faster then TT 300ZX's, but that's not saying much because i used to be even with CAI/catback TT 300Z's with my stock Taurus SHO.
Those cars can be fast but usually aren't. They are pigs as far imports go. Stock for Stock LS1's win, and AWD can = a good launch but usually does'nt with your average driver.

Yes, they can be fast. I ran one with the goodies and weight reduction in my Cobra with CAI/Exhaust making about 420 RWHP once. He took two outta three as my DR's were toast but they were very close races. Unfortunately, he wrecked it before I got my pullied up revenge. I've seen them in the mid to low 12's highly modifed.

Sorry, but a stock SHO would get raped by a 300ZX TT in good condition and with even a decent driver. An NA 300ZX would be a better match for a SHO...... Our intake/boost controller '91 Stealth TT RAPED a SHO, and he had a head start..... There are currently 2 3/Ses in the 9s, a 1G Stealth TT and a VR-4 (partially gutted and NOT on slicks....). I know it's not a lot, but there were only 25,743 combined Stealth TTs and VR-4s produced. I'm pretty sure the number of corvettes, camaros, trans ams, mustangs ect destroys that figure.......the more common the car, the easier it is to make them fast (in most cases) ie. bigger aftermarket.........
Obviously.......lets see......300rwhp vs 230awhp........who would win......who would win..........
vr4s close to stock are slow as hell. I raced one earlier this summer and rapped him by about 6 or 7 cars from a 20mph roll. The kid was pissed.

I didn't rip into anyone. Obviously an LS1 will beat a VR-4, stock for stock. Like I said, the LS1 has 60-70 MORE WHP and it weighs less. It's not rocket science to figure out which car is faster. But calling VR-4s "slow" isn't fair either, since they are capable of mid 13s stock. Last I checked, most LS1s run right around there, with a higher trap of course.
We ALMOST got a WS6, but John got another TT instead, so he can drive it year round as his DD (AWD FTW). Our next car WILL be a corvette. Don't get all bent cause I try to stick up for the 3/S....... If you went to another forum and saw mis-information and people calling LS1s slow, you'd speak up too. Wow.........I didn't know I was a "newbie ricer"???

As far as the original post goes, there seem to be a lot of kids running around in the non-vr4 version of the 3000gt. I don't see many vr4s around. Too bad as that would have been a better race.
