I understand that... For the $ the car is a damn good deal. How well does it hold up stock vs stock to a Ford GT?

 

When my car was stock I ran a 14.0 @99mph What does a stock ls1 run??? 13.5-13.8? The one thing that is bad about the s2k is that its VERY unforgiving if you mess up your launch

 

Try 13.0-13.5. The guys running high 13s (at a reasonable DA) in LS1s need a serious driver mod. For what it's worth, a stock '99 Z28 has seen a 12.8.

 

No doubt it is a deal. I agree. The GT and the C6 Z06 are stock vs. stock very close. Personally I like the GT since it looks like a supercar, but there is no denying that the C6 Z06 is a great performance value in a supercar. I like my S281E for $70K, but I'm sure there are a BUNCH of guys on this Forum that will say I still have a glorified Mustang... same for the GT500. I could say the same of the C6 Z06 vs. a base vette. Dodge's SRT8/10 and Vipers...

That's the thing. We could argue/disagree quote performance figures, total performance vs. $ investment, etc, etc. until we're all blue in the face, but in the end it is competition and individual tastes that make forums like this one fun .

 

$70K for the 281 is alot ot me but I have spent that in my car. They way I look at it, If you like it and your happy then who cares

 

Even almighty, infallible TOYota, that everyone in this country (and world) seems to , is showing some major ****** in it's armor. Guess what, despite their seeming "perfection", the major Nippon brands would be having a real hard time now as well if they had to deal with the whole union/pension issues like GM and the rest of the domestic marques. It was much more luck and getting into the large scale game MUCH later than the domestics that worked in their favor (so they could shut out the unions when they were MUCH weaker, and NOT have to deal with them, as GM was FORCED to at the time!!). Yes, as well as a population/workforce much more "nationalistic" in terms of looking at their manufacturers as part and parcel of the nation as a whole. Sadly, something that we as a nation have not done very well in the past, and have pretty much given up on now (i.e.; even though the domestics are actually building some damn good product now, our citizens still REFUSE to buy that product, as a whole )

 

First of all, it's NOT every single one of them, as the importees would have you think.
Secondly, I would take a C6 Z06 over even one of the highly modded Nippon "supacars" that again, everyone on here MUST (you all know which ones I'm talking about, and I DON'T CARE that I'm the ONLY one who thinks this way!! ) This is even if the roof was peeling off, and I had to fix it myself, without any help from GM. The MKIV/GTR are NOT (and NEVER will be) known as "America's Sportscar", but most on here are too young to appreciate that fact.

Stock LS1's have been know to run at low as 13.2 @ 107MPH. I ran a 13.4 @ 106.4 my first time at the track. My 60' was a 2.157 and my 1/8th was an 8.746. Your S2000 doesn't even compare to that stock for stock. I also don't believe that you ran a 14.0 in that gutless no torque wonder when it was still stock. You obviously like you talk out of your *** a lot.

He has a street car, and RL, a pimp ride infact. The S2000 (I have owned 2, and was on S2ki also) is a phenominal car, extremely well balanced, and a total hoot on a road course. Its not a drag car, but can be made fast. It his perogitive to dump $$ into his car with "the worst pwerband".

I Love my LS6, I love My 488 ci Viper, but I miss my S2k, it was a really fun car, I beat the living hell out of it on the nor call road cousres and it never complained.
