If I'm not mistaken they are rated at 425 hp stock. I know there is an SRT-8 300M that runs 8.7's at the local track. It's stock and on street tires.

It wasn't stock. That 425 is at the flywheel and they weigh like 4200lbs. They are fast but not that fast. Not fast enough to pull away from you like that.

I raced my friends 404rwhp SRT8 on BFG drag radials. I still beat him by a couple cars. Fast car though.

yah...sounds like he had aftermarket rims too that would also add more weight and slow him down....22's are huge on a car

you were prolly his first car he rapped since he picked his new supercharged SRT-8 up from the dealer that had just installed it for him

How do you know it was supercharged? It's obvious it wasn't stock, but I don't think it was supercharged. They put down 360-370rwhp stock.

They run low 13's at the track. You should have stay with him at least.

Is something amiss with your car?

Agree on the flywheel and weight but it could have been basically stock. Not a SC or anything though.
These cars respond very well to just a CAI and catback. I have seen (with dyno data) a Charger SRT8 reaching almost 30HP from just a CAI. I didnt believe it also until I saw the dyno charts. The CAI kit was a K&N. Maybe this are not typical results. I know my SRT8 is a whole different car with the MOPAR CAI and the BB catback.
Maybe the lead on the SS wasnt as the original poster said and the surprise factor of a family car kicking my *** make him exaggerate a bit. Maybe the SS needs a tune also!

Either he wasn't stock or you weren't in the right gear. What gear were you in and what speed? Damn I need to hurry up and race my friends Charger SRT-8!!

I took this info off of a local dealers Website here explaining all of the cars features. This is for the Charger SRT8. I dont know about the Cherokee version.
In this case, it's a big-bore, SRT-engineered version producing 425 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque.
As an all-around performer, the all-new 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 is capable of awe-inspiring numbers unheard-of in a muscle sedan: 0-60 mph in around 5 seconds, quarter-mile time in the 13-second range and braking distance from 60-0 mph in approximately 110 feet. The Dodge Charger SRT8 is also capable of accomplishing SRT's signature performance test of 0-100-0 mph in the mid 16-second range.
Hope that helps.
