WOW....I wouldn't go 4.30s though...if you plan on driving her on teh street a fair amount...but that's just me.
Fromt eh 3.27s..I would go 3.90s, maybe 3.73s.
ANd to those that don't think gears and ~420-440 RWHP/400RWTQ can't hit high 11s....you are sad.
BTW - OP....I would upgrade the axles to an aftermarket harden spline at the least. Yes, the 8.8 is a nice unit..but the axles are not the greatests. You will need to do something with the back end, if you ever want to put the power ot the ground (tires).

I love those 96-98 cobras! They are just all around cool cars. And who really thinks you cant hit high 11's with the setup he plans to do? That is ridiculous. But good luck with the trade off!

Yea about the gears ive read alot of different opinion and 3.73 are the lowest you would ever want to go with FI, and a n/a car 4.10's are the norm while 4.30's and even 4.56 are somewat common...so im going 4.10's
Are u sure on those HP numbers on stock 96-98 cobra's. I used to be mustang guy and if memory serves me the old DOHC's w/ the old style heads were only puting out like 260-270, similar to 2000+ GT's, to the flywheel. I had a 2002 GT and a buddy of mine had a 97 cobra. I was all stock and he had caback ORX and CAI and he only beat me by a little more then a fender.
Get a 03-04 Cobra. 17 PSI pulley, port the stock Eaton, and upgrade injectors. thats good for aboout 540RWHP.

im not a fan of the Terminators to many ppl with them get big heads...and have bigger wallets than me all that stuff u just said would run my 30-35k and i like the sn95 body style better and for 450rwhp ill be spending 15-16k....and the 94-95 cobras have 240bhp and the 96-98 have 305bhp...and if that guy didnt have any gears and yall went from a low low roll or dig then that Cooouuld be why he barley beat u because his torque doesnt pick up until the mid to high rpm range, thats why cobras love the gear....
96-98 4V Cobras typically dyno ~255-265 RWHP, bone stock (It is not at all hard to run mid 12's with a bolt-on, N/A 4V Cobra. Some folks have gone 11's with them).
99 4V Cobras didn't have a typical dyno when they were bone stock, which led to the performance recall. You'd see them dyno anywhere from 235 RWHP to 280 RWHP. After the recall, the average was in the 270-280 RWHP range. That's also about the same as a stock 01.
Mach 1's dyno around 275-285 RWHP (M5) bone stock, but have a bit broader powerband than earlier 4Vs.

Sounds like it would be a pretty decent machine with those mods. I'm kinda biased towards foxbodies so i'd tell you to get a fox lol. I made 425 on 8psi of boost on my shitty powerdyne with a blown headgasket now that i have alky i'm sure i could squeeze 450rwhp outta it. Now what kinda pisses me off is our TA with the 75shot of spray will lay down 450rwhp easily plus alot more torque and i don't have NEAR the money in it that i have in the stang. Oh well both are still badass in my book
........
I'd rather put a turbo on the car your looking at buying, you could easily get 450rwhp without even trying i think.

Yea how much would a turbo kit run me for it...the s/c kit will run me 3800...with everything i need: injectors, fuel pump, Intercooler, tuner, procharger of course....and directions and of course piping....and i think about 500rwhp is pushing the stock internals on the 4.6block so i may be happy with the 450rwhp unless the turbo isnt to much more expensive...

Negative, ported blower, bolt on Eaton car is only going to be in the 500-510rwhp.
