OH here we go again. About the mach's. They are a quick factory production car. lets just say auto for auto LS1 will win. of course 2-3tenths vary on shitty driver for a 6speed and a 5speed. but again auto for auto, is all hydraulics.

Maybe with a 5 speed in the stang it would be a drivers race. Fords auto trannies blow. Well, their engines blow too, but the trannies really suck

Might be little off topic, but is it true that Mach 1's dont respond well to Engine Mods? I dunno much about the Mach's at all so I can be wrong
Anyway Nice Kill

from what i have read so far 4.6 2 or 4 valves dont seem to make alot of power on just motor. its kinda small cubes. i am sure if they go to extremes with compression and cams you can make as much as you want. but they seem better aimed toward forced induction/power adder. i read threads where guys were building 4.6's and making less power than some cammed lsx's. they were not even close to a built big cube lsx. but they do seem to shine with the power adders.

I can't remember exactly what the LT1 had, but I know for sure it was an auto and had ATLEAST exhaust and an K&N on it. That's what it had at the least. I beat him three times by a car, half a car, and a fender. They were all close. He did have his girlfriend in the car, who was slender. I don't think she would've been an ounce over 115 LBS. It is a drivers race between these two cars.

This is only partly true. The 2V 99-04 GT's don't respond well to mods. However, they are supercharger and nitrous friendly . Cams help, but don't do too much for the car other than the added sound. Cam's don't do much for Mustangs in general, that's why you don't see a lot of Cammed Mustangs. But to answer your question Sprite09, the 4V Mach 1's DO respond well to mods. They are mid to low 13 second cars in the 1/4 mile stock. You can easily get them into the 12's with the usual bolt ons. Owners usually don't like to supercharge them because of their high compression ratio. But, some do supercharge them and make damn good numbers! ... And for those of you who didn't know, the 4V Mach 1's have the same motor as the 03-04 Cobra, just without the supercharger.

im gonna have to agree about gt's being easy bait...give some highschool kid a two door v-8 and he thinks hes invincible...my cobra monkey stomps the highly modded gt's and although i have beaten lt1's and the even later ls1's i cant see how a stock gt could even remotely hang with them considering the 5.7's can be a challenge to my non stock cobra...give the ls1 a six speed and its usually a one or two car race...i am a mustang guy but that 4.6 SOHC 2v isnt doing much for me...im taking the 300+hp 5.7L.....sorry dude

not to be a dick but i own an 04 gt 2 valve with 3:73's, bolt ons, a tune and a 100 shot. I have walked a few very mildly bolt on ls1s with no spray and two cammed ls1's with spray(all runs from a dig and i sport et street d/r all the time). dont get my wrong big fan of ls1's and stock for stock i could not touch one. with out gears or spray could not touch one. only point really is that there are a few gts that wont be easy bait for your average ls1's. by the way selling the gt lookin for a ls1 TA or 03-04 cobra. Gt is too slow for everything I put in it

not so much... compression ratio is completely different rods and pistons are forged in the cobra not in the mach and i do believe the heads on a cobra flow better. Better comparison for the mach motor would be from a 01 cobra not an 03-04 cobra

agreed on the motor...its bascally a 1999, 2001, or 2002 cobra...prolly just another money scam from ford to offer as many models as possible to make more money for those who could not afford the Terminators

p.s. its good to find another mustang owner that has a little respect for lt1 and ls1 motors, stock for stock and ls1 would eat my car, chew it up, and spit it out...some of the most dangerous cars to race im telling you...but im true to heart...GO COBRA!!!.............with a kudos to the 5.7L ofcourse

A full bolt-on Mach should be around 330 rwhp +/-. i was 292 hp with mods in sig no tune.

Edit: The Mach does have the '03/04 Cobra heads.

i stand corrected on the heads. but its still a completely different short block aside from the crank if the mach is a 5 speed. question was there a service bulletin on the machs for the revised heads as well?

Yes, you're right. But I didn't see a need to go into detail about the motor and it's internals without getting off topic. And the comparison is fine. The motor is the same for all the cars, but just with higher/lower compression, stronger/weaker internals, etc, etc. The point I was getting across to Sprite09 is that the Mach 1 does respond well to mods.

BTW, if you're looking for a new car, go with the Terminator and pulley it. I promise you won't be disappointed.

i dont think its much of a drivers race....when i raced this guy my shifts were terrible and his sounded right on but i still had him by about 2 1/2 cars, just my opinion.....
