Default I had no clue LT4s were so bad ***.

i pulled up hard behind a 95ish looking Corvette and was about to pull next to him when he dropped it and took off. i thought " hahaha funny little man in a LT1" but i dropped like a half second after him and i couldn`t gain a inch on him.
he had duals and intake so he said, but i think it was a bit more worked than just that. are LT4s really that good?

my car- 2001 Camaro SS M6, slp air lid, slp loud mouth 2, pacesetter longs.

They were rated at 330 hp where the regular ole LT1 was rated at 300 hp. I just saw one the other day when I was at a best buy here. I parked out in the boonie and it was a older guy and his wife. They saw me checking out there vette and he asked if I wanted to trade.

If I'm not mistaken, it would have had to have been a 1996 6-speed Vette to have the LT4, but that is beside the point...I've run across some strong LT1s, and although I've never run across any LT4s, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some strong ones of those too. Have any track times for your car? It could just be that it isn't running as well as you'd think...

no track times on this one. its my 4th f body ls1 and all the others were in the 12`s with the same type of mods.

i messed with a nasty 97 lt1 back is high school but this lt4 sounded like a beast.

Well, if this one feels like it is about as fast as your other cars, he may not be letting on all that he had. Who knows.

no no just kidding. im just pissed cause its so hard for me to get anyone to race me and when i see a sure win he jumps the gun on me and he has a crazy engine set up that i`ve never went against before.

p.s
its not hard to find races b/c my car is super bad *** or anything, i just live around a bunch of bitches that buy fast cars for the look not to really get on them.

I've heard that the LT-4 is a pretty strong motor, not as powerful as the ls1 but somewhat close (I could be wrong because this is only hearsay). If this is true I'm sure it would be a pretty close race due to the fact that the C4 should be lighter.

The LT4 was underrated. It's at least as powerful as an LS1. From what I hear, a lot dyno around 360 fwhp.

LT4 : 330hp/340Tq (with greater headflow and upper RPM strength then the LT1...stock)
LS1: 305-330hp/320-340Tq

Both runs low 13s, high 12's and I would say thats a damn good matchup.

Find out more about the LT4 HERE

Its a great engine...there's just not alot of them.
And GM did put them in a small number of Special 97 Ann. Camaro SS, with white paint, white ZR1's and Orange stripes...

Just found the link, and here that is.... Click Here!!

SLP has tested a couple of cars and has gotten 0-60 times around 4.9 seconds and quarter-mile times in the 13.20-second range at more than 107 mph.

An LT4 Vette will put down most stock LS1 F bodies.

I had a 96 LT4 Vette and it ran 13.0x @ 110 100% bone stock. It was definitely a strong car. The 96 Vette had a unique lower front fender vent that was different from all the other years it was sort of scallop shaped. If you see a C4 with this and a 6 speed…watch out!

I would definitely say yes. Once it comes to modifying the LS1 is much easier to make fast.

not to beat this to death or downplay the LT4, but many auto LS1s with good air and traction have run around 13.2x bone stock, showroom condition. a lid, filter, catback, and DRs can be well into the 12s. its a better motor overall, and responds so much more to modifiying then an LT1 or 4 would. this being said, id love to find an LT4 vette or SS, just to have. very rare, instant collectors item.

I raced a 96 Collectors Edition Corvette (LT4) from a 60 roll on the freeway. I was driving my 96 A4 LT1 Corvette with a 6# Vortech. I pulled away from him, but not like I thought I should've. I had maybe 3 or 4 lengths by the time we hit 120. I was actually surprised that I didn't flat out walk him, and he was surprised that I beat him. He didn't know I was blown.

I think the LT4 was very much underrated.

Are you just going by ratings or actual engine horsepower? We all know that LS1's are about 350bhp...Lt4 sounds like it would be the same.
