Default low-mid 11 second vr4???

I asked this guy in a '94 vr4 awd if he wanted to race and he declined...saying that he runs mid-low 11's...I think that's bs...how much would it take to get one that fast?

I wouldn't doubt the car's ability to run that fast, but the owner sounds like a bullshitter. I mean, he declines a race without even knowing what you have, because he's "too fast". Like an lsx can't run the same time...if he's really that fast he'd know better.

I've seen 10 sec VR4's. Not many (haha one actually)... but they're out there.

I have a buddy that has a low 11 sec vr4. Here in Illinois. he has an upgrade on the turbos along with a small shot of nitrous and a great tune. He trapped at 128 spinning the tires and ran a low 11.

they can run that fast, I have never ever seen one do it, but hell with the right set up even a mini cooper can run that fast. Just next time you see him call him a coward and to just to run what you brung.

VR4s can definitely do that...I don't think they are very reliable doing it though. I've seen quite a few **** talkers that were always talking about "just wait till I upgrade my turbos" and one that had a mysterious boost leak that had the car down for about 2-3 months after I raced him and won (and my car was stock).

The motors are pretty stout. Not 2jz stout, but capable of making 700 on stock internals. The problem is, the amount of room in the engine bay, to modify like you would a supra or skyline. Now there are companies, coming out with their own single kits.

http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread....33#post4201633

Most of the popular choices are, upgrading the factory turbos. Which can easily make 550-600.

its believable...but i doubt his is...

I ran one before my turbo set up....car was fast as hell. Pulled like a rapped ape from every roll possible. Pulled over and talked to him. It ran low 12's consistantly with upgraded turbos, fuel injectors and tunring up the boost, and bigger exhaust....not bad

I've seen a couple at the track run very well. Making power is one thing, the awd helps put it to the ground, I know they can have clutch issues too though

From what I have read and heard, any car with a turbo( or TT) can be fast for cheap.

No point in running 11's if something on the car breaks after every other run.

Those cars are **** poor quality.

Eh, I'm done with you, I'll just let Unit deal with it, everyone knows it's gonna happen sooner or later...

Do you seriously disagree with that?? You honestly think that 3000GT VR4's are well built, reliable vehicles?? They are poorly engineered, impossible to work on, and the quality of their parts is non existant.

Its widely known that they are crappy vehicles. Why argue with reality??

You have 3 posts in over a years time dumbass...you aren't one to be calling anyone out on "who should be getting banned". DSMfan tried to do that and the mods basically told him to shut the **** up because he isn't a contributing member of the site. You are no different.

You assume I own a DSM! You dont know what I drive, or own for that reason! What are your experience with tuning a VR-4? What problems are associated, with owning one?

Ok, you actually started off well there, it's headed towards an intelligent conversation, so I'll reply.
I never vouched for the car, or its manufacturer, I simply said that everyone already knows what your opinion is, so why say it for the 50th time this week?
The tranny is questionable if you're beating the **** out of the car, that's one point, other than that nothing sticks out.

BTW, I never called for you to be banned, it's not my place, I just said that it was going to happen if you keep this up, most likely sooner than later.

The Engine is a 4 cam V6. Its transversely mounted, meaning there is absolutely no room to do anything, and nothing fits together right. Get a bost leak and you could be looking for it for weeks. And when you find it, its guarenteed that its going to be in a location thats impossible to get to. And you'll probably need to some shitty Mistubishi dealer parts to fix it too, all at a cost thats worth more than the car.

How the **** do you work on something like that?? How you can fix the boost leak from the shitty internal wastegates of the 9b's and the failing transfer case when you somehow muster up 16 psi on the shitty stock fuel pump, launch and have it break, all while simoultaneously hitting low fuel cutoff?? Its a piece of ****.

Heres the list:

**** poor built quality
Garbage motors and shitty turbos
Crappy shifters that are miserably sloppy
Weak Transmissions that self destruct
Crappy clutches
Transfer cases that explode
Weak CV shafts that break on launch

That's a fairly accurate depiction of the VR4.

1. The stock turbos SUCK!
2. The motor is decent for a V-6.
3. Absolutely NO room to work on it.
4. Notchy shifters.
5. Ya have to spend 10K for a decent dogbox.
6. Put Raxles on it to race.
7. Transfer cases suck.
8. Anything worth a damn ppowerwise eats a stock clutch, that's a no-brainer.

Other than that, they're decent cars, just too heavy, they weren't made for drag racing to start with.

They are still fast cars, and the 95+ will give an ls1 a good run for their money from a dig. Especially with the boost turned up a little.
