Unhappy Killed by Civic

Was out with a friend last night coming home from a movie and I hear this white civic 2 lanes over has a turbo. So naturally, I wanna see what he's got. We finally get to a place we can punch, so we do, no honks, but a pretty fair start. He put two cars on me pretty fast, then I just let off. I knew i'd been beaten. I asked him to go from a dig, but he says he has no traction in first and second. I always hate getting beat by ricers, but it happens.

The average Civic is not a "POS." It is a better car overall than anything Ford or GM has made in the same class in the past few decades. If people decide to ALSO make them faster, that's their choice. Now I'm not talking about the gutted '87 CRX you see with the fart can. I'm talking about a nice 99-00 Si or something, tastefully done with a nicely-sized turbo. It goes from a "good" car, to something that is good and relatively fast. Still not everyone's cup of tea (including mine), but you can't really call the nice ones POSs. Not everyone wants or needs a Camaro/Firebird/Mustang type car.

The new civic si is a real real nice car. It's nice overall styling, nice interior, great motor (K20), gets great gas mileage, and has awesome resale value! I personally like the early 90's civic hatch back's with a motor swap and turbo set-up. No body kits or anything!

Yes they do. If they think other wise, they are misguided.

Aside from your occasional douch bag and immature teenie-bopper that has everything to prove and nothing to lose...this is why I like this site. A guy get's killed by an import and has the respect to acknowledge it publicly and give the guy props. Good race and maybe you'll get him next time. Nice post too.
PS I hope in your "much more to com..." in your sig you plan on a little FI !?

Yea, if I came on here and lied, that'd be ricer-type garbage. I actually have respect for guys like this, no body kit, no wing, big *** muffler but not noisy and was tucked away, and some respectable tuner rims. FI is in my plans, but later down the road. I'll prolly be swapping the cam this summer, prolly right after I get a built trans. But a few years down the road i'm considering a forged/turbo setup.

Good death. There is a turbo Integra in town that runs high 11's at like 130mph. I'm hoping not to run into him on the highway anytime soon...

i hate civics man, and i cant say that all of them are ricers. So really no offense but you shouldnt call every civic a ricer. In case you dont know, a ricer is a car that has more parts on it to make it look fast than actually go fast. If he beat you, then he must have a pretty fast car. Obviosuly he is not a ricer. No offense though, im just correcting you.

Yeah there's a difference between a ricer and a nicely built japanese tuner. My old roommate's brother had a really nice 99 or 2000 Si that he built up pretty well. It was pushing about 450whp if I remember correctly and it was very tastefully done. No bodykit, no wing. Just dropped a little for cornering purposes and a decent set of tuner rims. It looked like a really nice car and I'm guessing that it was extremely fast putting that much power to the ground in that little of a car. My brother also used to have a black 95 Civic EX with some nice rims and dropped a little with just exhaust and a cheap auto zone intake and it wasn't that bad of a car. I actually wanted it but when he got rid of it, I had my Camaro and I wasn't gonna give that up. And plus he was already out in Arizona so I wasn't going to go out there and drive it back.

Just get some LT's and get rid of the flowmaster and you will gain the 2 cars back that he pulled and add a cam if you want even more power...

You cant win them all....i'm glad you took it well.

I just hate their fuqin commercials, you know the latest ones where some young ppl are talking about how great they are, their performance, handling, etc. I'm not even American but I support the muscle, same as my pops before me.
I was reading in that Camaro magazine at a bookstore the other day, some lady had kept a nice old camaro garaged for years to give to her son when he came of age, but when he got his license he wanted a Civic so she sold it, damn kids today.

I seen a 95 civic runnin in the 7's in the 1/8th not too long ago. He started at 7.80's and steadily got quicker. He ended up with a best of 7.30. He had a turbo and it was intercooled. He said it was his first time at the track and I believe him. The guy was pretty cool, can't say the same for his one seated multi-colored automobile.

well, you're basically a bone-stock, 10 year old car. get a tune-up (plugs, wires, filters, all new fluids, full seafoam treatment) and your air/fuel ratio tuned and i bet you'll whoop his *** or at least run with him.

I hate all civics and all modded import cars. I do respect the guys who mod their cars with a minimum of taste and not with a ricer style. **BUT, I will never get used the idea of modding a car who starts in the 15-16sec 1/4mile, who has an economic purpose, who has the worst sound ever, who has no performance history exept they need a big turbo to go fast, and a look that'll be good for trash in 5years** Put a big can and heads exhaust and kill this guy. If not enough, add 150whp of NOS. Sorry guys, but I would prefer a stock lsx car anytime instead of this *%?& turbo poor car...IMO
