Default S281 VS. my little LT1....

Alright head out for lunch with a cousin who weighs in at the range of 300lbs.
Way out ahead of me a see an NSX and gain chase...well coming up behind me was a late 90's body S281 Saleen Stang chasing me down. NSX didnt want to play but stang did.... now specs on my car LT1 Heads and Cam, on a diet with about 450RWHP... His car unknown but it had a supercharger, stick shift on his car/convertible, and was throwing a small flame out of his exhaust every shift. Now down to the run, didnt get next to him he took off about 2 cars ahead in traffic. I gain chase pull him in and i am at his rear bumper. start pullling him in but let off because of the unsafe 100 plus MPH on the street...... Now wanted to run again but he like most owners of stangs was asking how much power i had. He got all defense and dumbfounded that i was pulling him in. this when on for a couple of minutes and wanted to go from 1st gear roll on my A4. finally say i had about 450 HP and told me that i had a lot. He stated the he was only running 3lbs of boost, Yeah sure...... besides the point didnt run again and he was being a big sloppy, stinky a$$ PU$$!.... he didnt want to run again.... Now think about i had good power but had a lot of extra weight he took off 2 cars ahead and i ended up pulling that in and starting to pass him at higher speed. I will give him the win but he will be lunch for my vette next time i see him.....

Nice run....but just seomthing to consider...he more than likely weighed more than you being a charged saleen vert. And...Saleens don't have side exhaust. If he really did have flames, he wasn't stock, and was running rich (most likely). BTW - stock saleens have more than 3 psi, so you are right about him being full of it.

FYI SN95 new edge saleens are low 300s RWHp...not that impressive if you ask me. I like the way they look, and can be semi quick, but stock..they are nothing special 1320' wise.

he was throwing a flame out the rear not the side....it was a Saleen with matching brake calipers, and all the little accents they have. When i was younger i wanted so i know what to look for when i race one...not flamming his car just asking him to be honest and race be from a dig, next to me and not ahead of me...

He didnt want his pride to be hurt....Nice job pulling him in.

The non SC 281s are a joke I was at the track just the other day and some guy had 1 couldn't break out of the 14s to save his life quickest he ran was a 14 flat and the track was hooking great also a stock i guess 06 couldn't break into the 13's either I was disappointed in both cars to say the least I was assuming the saleen was going to run better it must of only had the appearance mods.

I love the look of the saleen's. He was probably 13lbs of boost. I know they are not that fast, but look cool as hell. He probably had one of those set up's with the sparkplug in the exhaust to shoot flames on shifts.

Definitely NOT 13 lbs of boost!

Saleen Mustang 101 (just the basics):

S281: Appearance and handling (racecraft) package. Steve Saleen is a left and right guy.
S281SC: Supercharger added to stock internal engine, 5 lbs of boost, racecraft suspension. Pretty fast depending on year.

S281E: Motor has forged internals, serious boost, BIG brakes, Panhard bar and some other goodies. Z06-like performance.

Half of the "saleen mustangs" on the road have only Saleen parts added.

Good kill.

Amen! S281Es are not a joke by a stretch.
