The newer stock GT's carry a 4.6 Liter SOHC 16 valve-V8... Good for 260 hp (rated at the flywheel). If that doesn't tell you about it's quater mile time...

Well, what would you expect for $18,000?

You can make it quick and painless or slow and painful. I prefer the latter. I'll never beat anyone by more than a car length, if I do, I'll slow down (I like'em kissing my rear bumper). That way, when they mod. their car, they get the same results when we race again ! It's so infuriating for them.

I had a '93 Lx 5.0 5sp stock (never raced it at the track), but the Z28 just feels so much more powerful. I'd say he does not have a chance if it's stock. With some mods, maybe. Watch out if it whines.

In my case, no losses to Mustangs yet, at the track or the street. Actually beat a newer one at the track on my first pass ever while missing 3rd for 5th.

Wait, just realized yours is an LT1 and saw your mods, it should be a close match. Only one way to find out.

if its a '98 mustang, its no problem, they had 215hp... 99+ have 260, or about 225rwhp... if its stock, u should win, but if its modded, it will be close... who's the better driver...

98 mustang has 225, not 215hp.
99-03 run low 14s high 13s with best I've seen 13.7 stock.
With your LT1 should be a close race. Good luck!

the Mach 1's have 305hp, I believe the gt's have the same motor. The same motor as the cobra minus the blower. My brother had a 97 cobra with the 305hp 4cam'r, 4.10's, offroad hpipe and intake. It was pretty quick. If it's a 4cammer, it will be interesting. and find out

The GT's have a SOHC 4.6, whereas the Mach 1's have the DOHC 4.6. The Mach 1's are quicker.

93redZ, I think it will be a CLOSE race. It's really gonna come down to the drivers.

if its a 98 high middle to low 15s, maybe high 14s if he is good
if its is a 99-03 high 15s to mid 14s, there is no chance in hell of 13s unless he is highly modded.
Ihave a friend with a 99 Gt,he was 3.76 gears in the rear, a 8psi vortech blower, longtube headers, borla exhaust, highflow cats, x-pipe, king cobra clutch, bbk throttle body, and a few other mods I cant think of and he can't even get into the 12s. Mind you he has had the car since 99 and knows how to drive it

Stock LS1's with average drivers run mid 13's.
From all the draggs ive seen with new GT's, its been low 14's all day long .

well the mach 1's are 305 hp 320 torque. thats pretty damn close to ours ls1's stock. they also have i believe a 3.55 rear gear. 10.1.1 compression.
whats also interesting is i believe they have subframe connectors from factory and their front and rear swaybars are the same size.(23 mil i believe) hopefully some of thes people will get the cobra chargers and not fiqure in for their higher compression and go BOOM ! but in the right hands equally modded they will be contenders!

expect mid 13's with slicks at the most, i had a 99 gt with all the bolton's including BBk LT's and i counldn't break 13.6's, and i drove that car well. Street tires the best i have seen is a 13.8.

evan smith (MM&FF guy) has gone 13.7's in a bone stock 03 gt and hes the king of drag racing street tire cars. however ive also heard of guys going 13.8's with stock gt's also. expect 14.0's from a normal driver. if its a 98 meaning the older body style, he has NO chance unless you blow a couple shifts.

The Machs use a 4v head instead of the standard gt's 2v head, the big difference is in the suspension, no IRS- live rear axle. I talked to a guy who is trading the cobra for a Mach because he said the IRS sucked. I drove Machs 2x- and the mach is the coolest stang i have ever driven. But I still hate 'em.

"well the mach 1's are 305 hp 320 torque."

That's a factory rating, and most of our cars put that to the ground stock. Don't expect much out of the Mach 1.
