Stock to Stock - it's all in the driver - Mach with Gears will probably pull from a dig

Anybody who has any doubts about what a Mach 1 is capable of needs to take a look at this video. This is just a 20 year old kid who just bought the car and took it to Atco Dragway for the day, and captured most of his day on video. Granted, the weather was rather cold, but still.

Know your enemy.... I actually would prefer the person I'm racing to underestimate me.

The M5 Mach's are a real PITA to learn to drive correctly. They are much more difficult than any M6 F-body to master. They spin dangerously in 1st-2nd and sometimes 3rd, the trans and clutch are **** and the car has different shift points that are more effective in different gears. Example: 1st-2nd:6700 2nd-3rd:6400 3rd-4th:6000 is my car. I have about 100 or more slips for my car. If I decide to leave it in 3rd until redline then my trap speed drops 2-3 mph like clockwork.

In summary, Mach one hard car to master.

Dude,

I am about as close as they come to gears only. I have 4.56's, K&N Intake, Shifter (which doesn't make it any faster, just easier for me to be consistent), welded-in flowmasters into the stock catback (I don't think they added any power), stock midpipe, and 18" rims.

And I'm about 10 miles away from you. If this rain ever stops, let's go before you start modding.

Even non driving magazine drivers have gotten low 13's....very low like 13.1's and 13.2's from Mach 1's. And unlike the N/A Cobra's they love launching from a dig. And with no other mods other than gears will put an N/A Cobra or Mach 1 into the 12's.

I agree you really have to work the car to get the best times, my Cobra was the same way and most of the time I ended up revving it past the power peak to redline to have more pull in the next gear.

that didnt sound so stock to me, so pretty much your saying if a stock mach runs that then there as fast as a cobra in the 1/4.. i dont see that happening

It is highly likely that the Mach in the video is lightly modded.

Bone stock to bone stock, Mach 1's are ~6 tenths or so slower than 03/04 Cobras.

Why don't you retards just go race already. It seems like every thread turns into "well stock vs. stock" or "I know of a car that ran this..."

Mach 1 and LS1 cars are pretty evenly matched cars. Who gives a **** if a Mach 1 or LS1 ran a 12 stock. Not very many of them are stock anymore anyways. M6 LS1's trap higher speeds than Mach 1's for the most part.

I don't really see why you guys E-Race anyways? Why don't you just get your *** out of your chair and actually go find one to race?

For not caring, you sure post a lot, though I personally kind of thought that this is what message forums were for.

So your avatar says "no internet racers" but you think that this is what message boards are for? Perhaps I missed something ....

Perhaps you're right. Things are not always what they seem, young Jedi.
