Default 350z

Well i just got my transmission done and works pretty well. Stock 700r4 rebuild - downgraded to a 2000 stall from my 3800 (all i could do pretty much) Obviously i dont have as much "oomph" as before but my car shifts perfectly know. Anyways my buddies 350z is stock, just some rims. Well we are both auto, and at the stop light he launched and I just went then w.o.t but he won that time. It was about a car length. Then on the freeway I pulled on him at first then he pulled away and again another car length. At the light again, I launched and beat him but still not by much. Now i have a bolt on car and i know i should be able to take a 350z stock they are 300/300. i think I am having issues or something, Like something is restricting my power. Any ideas or anyone think I should have won against that 350?

if he has a 07 you'll lose.. If it's a 03-05 autos run at best a high 13-low 14's best. Judging by your mods in your sig, you should beat a stock one. I also have a 96 z28 in the drive way with my 350z. It has moroso cai, edelbrock mid length headers, y pipe, hooker muffler, msd wires, cutout at the rear end and no tune. It in 100+ temps runs consistent 14.0s@99... A stock auto z should barely turn that. Check your tune man.

Not trying to be a dick, but just curious. Why do the like twin turbo 350's at 8 psi only run in the 12's?

Traction. Look at the trap speed. Most run 115-119mph traps at 8psi

350z's are not exactly made for straight line races. They are pretty good as an overall car. On the highway with TT they run pretty strong though!

I had a 93 Z28 that ran 12.50's with bolt on's, a Vig2800, and a Hot Cam. Your car should run mid 13's at least. If it doesn't, get a custom chip from Ed Wright (for those of you that don't know, the 93's have a chip, not a programable ECU, no mass air).

The93Z, I'd get your car checked out or get a tune on it. You should be running a bit faster than a stock 350z with your mods. Especially if he's an auto.

I really do need to get my pcm4less tune reflashed. Like i said i downgraded stalls, so the tune thinks I am running a 3800. I DID NOT have then chip in when I raced, i had my stock one in. I put the pcm4less in right now and im going to go test it out and see what happens. Think it will mess my 2000 stall up if the tune thinks its a 3800?

Most 350z with the tt kits try to run on street tires and that's why they run 12's. I have less hp than most of them and less torque and run the same times. On the interstate is where they shine, line most turbo cars do.

^ Yup... Those things have awesome blocks with high-limit potential once you get past the stock pistons/rods... Kind of like our LS1's.

I ran into one that sounded very odd.. and louder than a stock one..

He kinda did the flyby, I dropped to 2nd gear when he went by. I stopped his pull but right as I was about to shift into 3rd at 70-ish.. he got sideways and came into my lane so I let off.

WTF did a 350Z break traction on dry pavement at almost 70mph? I think I could have reeled him in eventually.. possibly.. hard to tell but he really suprised me.

Plenty of turbo Z's doing that Asmodeus. My s/c just rolling into 2nd gear will tear the tires loose all the way through 2nd and spin a good bit in 3rd and i have 275's on the back.

I have a 2007 350z with Nismo Intakes, NOS nitrous kit, and a re-worked valve body (auto transmission)...

I have NO PROBLEMS with traction off the line... I havent taken it to the track yet.. but have raced many cars here in KC... I have no troubles beating low13 second cars... I have put 3/4 car lengths on many 13.2/13.4 second cars...

The 2007 has pretty much a completely different engien (80% has changed)... it hits peak torque at around 2800 RPM's.

Back To The Point:

I have beaten 3 or 4 stock LS1 Camaros without nitrous...and LT1's with cams (me no nitrous) still arent much work. The LS Camaros will pull it back in on the top-end 3/4 gear... but wont pull on me untill after trap-speeds..

Dont get too down on your car if he beat you, it could easily have the VQ35HR (2007) engine in it.

my 95Z with stock gear and trans, no procharger took an 05 350z with very minor mods like free'd up exhaust and CAI, but only by a half car to 3/4 of a car. that was from a five roll with my top down and someone else in the car.
at the time i was only running CAI, mild cam, headers, no cats muffler or AC and drag radials. that was all at the time.
