Not sure what world you live in, but STOCK 03-04 Cobras barely ran in the high 12s with good drivers. When my car was stock making 297 rwhp I would beat the **** out of Cobras all over the road and at the track. And guess what, they were making a solid 50+ rwhp over my LS1.
And, so we are clear, the 09 Camaro will ******* DESTROY whatever Ford has out in 09 to battle it.

Ford+non drivers+lots of horse power=whipped by LSX power any day.

they did computer comparisons between the camaro coming out and the mustang, and while they were all close, the camaro was the winner in every contest. including quarter mile, slalom and so on. as far as destroy, i dont know about that.
of course the 400horse camaro has advantages, mainly everything (except cost) but it should be close.

Read the first line you wrote......COMPUTER COMPARISONS!!!! Don't computer/bench race. I would hope the new Camaro would walk all over the Stangs but we will find out when it does come out.

Also, I think the 400 hp might be a bit more since the LS2 is no longer in production. Can anyone say Direct Injected LS3!!!!!!

yeah you and me both. the camaro simply has the edge over the stang. i cant wait to find a new camaro myself...love to see how one of those would run against my older one.

i would love to see them bring back the trans am. GM has green lighted a turbo cobalt, but so far no news ive heard about a definite Trans am come back.

With excellent drivers they ran low-mid twelves... so yes, they are faster. You beat some, but that's not because of the car.

OP, great kill. I've wanted to run one of those things for the longest time, but I never see them around here. It must have felt great to pull on that guy.

To everyone else, why is it that when the dollar cost gets brought up the Cobra always gets compared to the Fbodies? For the times, the C5 and C6 Vettes have always been a closer match dollar for dollar to the Cobras and GT500s, and the Fbodies have always been a closer match for the GTs dollar for dollar. Get your facts straight.

And just to throw it in the pot for the hell of it, the Vettes almost always win over the Cobras/GT500s stock for stock, and the Fbodies always win against the GTs stock for stock. So I think the stock vs stock argument pretty much goes out the window the second dollar amounts are brought up.

Run what you brung, I don't care if you spent 6k on your car or 600k, stock OR modded. You still won or lost.

The only great comparison dollar-wise and performance-wise has been the Mach 1s with the LS1 Fbodies.

Unless you use MSRPs, in which case the 03-04 Cobras were about the same price as some of the '02 F-bodies... and who cares if it came FI from the factory?

I would like to know the cheapest MSRP on an 03/04 Cobra, and find me one Fbody that had an MSRP within a couple thousand of that. I highly doubt it. MAYBE a 2002 Anniversary or Firehawk with a lot of options, but those obviously aren't the norm, FAR from it. And that's cheapest Cobra vs. most expensive Fbody.

My buddy's dad still has the window sticker from him 2002 Z28 M6 with some options, and the MSRP with the options was $23k or $24k. Most LS1 Fbodies are comparable price wise to a GT, not a Cobra. And they clearly smashed all of the GTs from that time period.

I saw tons of F-bodies selling for $30-$35k in '02... which is about where the Cobra was.
