Supercharged RS vs Me
Was on my way to work this morning and saw this 96 or 97 in the rear view. Couldn't tell what it was but it had that pointy looking ram air style hood on it. I couldn't see the cutouts for function so I was immediately thinking "ahhh. All show no go." WRONGGGGG!!!! He rolled past me trying to get me to go but there was too much traffic. When he got in front of me I noticed the back and it said something like F1 or F something. Anyway, we get a good spot on the highway to go to town for a bit. I pull on him as if maybe I was running a GT with good mods. I had to work for my 4 - 5 car lengths. I go to get on my exit and give him a wave for good race and he signals 6. That **** was a 6. He was definitely not all show. I thought all of his gauges were for show too but he had some good mods including a supercharger. That was a good race and a well built 6.

I saw a 6 cyl. run 13.7 1/4. He was sprayin' and had intake & exhaust mods (including some SS tips!). He was cuttin' 1.7 60' after churning rubber for about a minute in the box. You gotta hand it to him, the guy's crafty. He even had stripes with a subtle 231(sorry if I'm off by a few ci) insignia so he would not be mistaken for driving V8.

Guys don't underestimate a V6. I had a 00' V6 stang before I got the WS6, and I was running High 12's. I had a heads and cam package from super six motorsports, full exhaust with LT's 3600 stall and a 100 shot. Why did I put that kind of money into a V6? I got the car for free!!!!If you don't beleive it can be done, check out V6power.net, there are some seriously wicked 6's out there, running on old school technology (regular old pushrod engines, no OHC's). But however someone hit me and totaled the mustang, so now I'm on to bigger and better things.

Often times kids will end up with the 6s cause their parents buy them and want to save a few bucks. That doesn't mean the kid doesn't have a job and the cash to actually mod the thing. If done right the GM 3.8L can be mean as heck look at all the fast GNs out there. I had a V6 firebird before my camaro. It wasn't as fast as my SS but in a short race it flat moved.

but still....why mod a V6.....if your going to be dumping head/cam (especially a SC) kind of money into it, why not do a swap for the factory V8 engine (93-97 LT1, 98-02 LS1). You just pull the old engine/tranny out, swap motor mounts (unbolt the V6 ones and bolt the V8 ones in) and stick a $1500-$2000 engine/tranny in and go. Now you have at least 100hp more than you had with the V6 and you can really go to town on mods.
anyways....nice kill....

I personally agree with you, but everyone has they're situation. ****, the car my parents were nice enough to buy me was an 82 trans am ... however my dad decided it would be best if he took out the 305, and put in a 4 cyl.
I'm sure there are plenty of people out there with this situation. Or as someone else has said, 6's are significantly cheaper then the 8's ... maybe they just dont have that kind of cash? Its alot easier to shell out a few hundred a month, then a few grand extra.
Just my 2 cents.

I did it because it was funny as **** to pull up next to a GT and smoke their ***. You should see the look on their faces when they see the big V6 emblem on the back window. But that's in the past, now I'm really having fun.

Re: Supercharged RS vs Me
Did you ever think that maybe people just want to be different. There are countless V8 f-bods out there that are running in the 12s. But how many V6 f-bods are??? What makes a bigger impression?? A V-8 that hauls ***, or a V-6 that hauls ***. Just two different ways to the same end I suppose. Either way you can't go wrong
