They just need a 1/4 with an extra 100ft or so added in for us stock 10 bolt guys... lol j/k of course. But seriously I roll race from fairly low in second gear because if I put some DR's or ET streets on and went from a dig I would be looking at another 2500 for a rear end and then more for a new drive shaft, and then more for suspension parts to hook the power since I had the rear end... etc. etc. Right now my 10 bolt is keeping me from spending a lot of money I don't have. So as long as I don't break it I don't have to worry about getting the mod bug too bad. As for my time in my sig, the F1's were on the car when I bought it and were almost bald. I was spinning into 3rd.

And to the guy having trouble hooking the turbo car, I think taking a street car as nasty as that one and doing any more to the suspension would cause it to lose some appeal to me. Being able to drive it fairly comfortably on the street is what's cool about it. If you try and make it hook and turn it into a track car your not the baddest sled on the block anymore. Not many people can claim to hang with you in the 100+ category on the street. Drive it, and build a drag only car if thats what you want. Of course, just my opinion again.

I see what you guys mean...hell I don't know what I was thinking...900+hp cars have no hope of hooking up from a dead stop. Hell here is a Supra with that power that has INSANE traction issues at the track!!! His car is also a 6 speed and he drove it to the track too...alot in common with the OPer other than no traction.

Yeah, now if he can just keep from leaving rubber past the 1/8th... He could run low 8's... Anything can be made to hook, look at the FWD's in the 7's...

Now this is a good post, some of us also drive our cars every day. And for me my car would look kind of funny with the rear hiked up on slicks and skinnies

Lol.

Ok, first of all, its not JUST weight and hp that will win... theres gearing, area under the curve, traction, etc... that come in to play.

Second... have you ever tried driving/hooking a powerful car? Its a little difficult to go WOT and expect traction when you have your horsepower/tq jump 400 hp and ft/lbs in 1000 rpm....

Heres me hitting it at 60 mph in third gear, not very high in the RPM band in other words. Pay attention to at what mph the car grabs.

That car has a mostly stock suspension. TRD diff, Tilton clutch and maybe a drive shaft. Not alot invested in it. It's also 100% streetable with a/c etc. He drove it to and from the track.

lol. roll racing at the drag strip? is pointless. if you go to professional sanctioned events most cars are paired up by their ETs forcing the "better" driver to win. roll racing takes out so many aspects of what make a Driver "good" why even be in the car? just go buy some mini Nitro remote powered cars and race them. same thing no skill involved give it throttle and shift mabe one time....

Count me in on that as well. Sure, most of the time one races on the street, it is from a roll.......but I dunno. Racing from a roll (I should say a "high" roll.......like 40mph+) just feels like two cars speeding to me. I never feel satisfied with a kill unless I manage it from a stop or, at least, a very very low roll.

And funny thing is.......9 times outta 10 going from a stop is more to the advantage of my competition than it is to me, cuz I'm still on da street tires. But I still prefer it to roll racing.

As far as the OP's idea.......I could maybe see doing a full mile drag track or something. But roll racing at a drag strip would only be useful for bragging rights. It'd be hard to standardize the timing and starts. And even if you did manage it, the timeslips wouldn't be worth much to most drag racing enthusiasts.
