You mean 2JZ, and they are not very modern by todays standard. Big old school heavy cast iron block, that doesn't look that much different than a 1950's inline six with an overhead cam cyl head thrown on it. I was smoking those cars when they came out and continued to do so as their millionaire owners and their tuners finally figured out how to get them to make power. The thing that made those cars fast was the size of the owners wallets. For a given amount of boost any LS1, LS2, etc engine will make more and it will start at lower rpm.

Don't get me wrong, I do respect what they have done with these cars, but the same boost on one of our engines will yield more power and better drivability for the same weight vehicle.

i dont want to turn this into a pissing match but you're retarded. find me one of your ls1s making over 1k on a BONE *** STOCK motor. how is that not a good design, when you can increase power 5 or 6 fold simply by adding more boost?

well no ****, sherlock. Thats what forced induction on 2x the displacement tends to do.

careful with your generalizations
30psi on stock block 2JZ ~700-800rwhp
30psi on stock block LS-1 ~walking home

They're both awesome engines, and each go different ways about making great power.

Well first off I think he was saying 2J's and 1J's, as in "2JZs and 1JZs." Secondly, the 2JZ wasn't "phased out" until very recently... the Lexus IS300 used it until this current redesign.

Nice death. Those cars can be deadly. They're kind of like our cars in never knowing what to expect when pulling next to one. Running one can definitely be a humbling experience. Lol.

What are your mods?

i once came across a white one. MT slicks on it, low pro's up front. the idle even intimidated me. but being my dumb *** self, i revved. the guy smiled, cocky (has every right to be) and after the front wheels came down on his car, i knew it was already over.
ended up talking to the guy a good long while. ton of money and work into the car, dynoed in at 1250hp, single turbo, 10.7 quarter mile.
raced a supposedly 1200hp one, well i was running 11.9 and he was running 12.5. i won by a fender, but he was spinning through every gear...wanna talk about scary? race against a car that has no traction from 0-100mph.

if you knew anything they do not make over 1000 on a stock motor buddy. they push about 650rwhp and reliabality goes out the window. And he never said on a stock motor. you would be ignorant to think an built ls1 on 30psi would lose to a built supra on 30psi.

actually, several of them have made more than 1000hp on the stock short block -I think thats what 88BlackGT was implying.
