Default HELP! my 01 Z06 got killed by a supercharged 350Z

We were doing 40-50 mph launches on a freeway. He was slowly and steadily pulling me (he was uncounsciously tryong to scoot his seat forward to go faster, lol!). I could hear his supercharger winding up, so I knew he had boost. The only mods I have are an air intake(Halltech) and a cat back loudmouth. Do you think if I change just the exhaust (headers and X pipe)I shoould be able to at least keep up? I do have mods like Dart heads and a mild Comp XER(224/224 .571") ready for the future too.

Depends on how hard he was pulling you. Your pretty much stock right now so don't act so surprised you got walked. The heads and cam would spice things up a bit that's for sure. Time to start modding if you don't want to lose anymore.

Yea, I know I need to start turning wrenches, lol. But I have to save up for the other parts that goes with the swap and that's a few months away. He wasn't pulling that hard away from me; if i coulda got out of my car I could walk faster than he was pulling me(ignoring the fact that we were probably doing around 100 ,lol)

Those 300zxs can be made pretty fast and your loss is a fine example. It takes a ton of work, however.

How close were the races? And about how much power does your buddy make?

Get those heads and cam going and you'll be walking him.

There is guy in out car club with a supercharged Z. Don't feel to bad...the'll roll out. He runs 12.5? with just the blower and supporting mods.

The '01 Zs here in Tucson run about 12.8 consistently. The altitude here hurts the times. IMO 12.5 in a stock Z is very respectable.

longtubes, true duals, freemods, and a tune will net you another 35 or so horsepower and i bet you would take him then.

Stock 07 350 z with a turbonetics kit will do 450-500 at the flywheel. That is good for a mid 12sec pass. With more supporting mods who knows.

Never really hear about supercharged 300zx. I kind of see it as a disadvantage compared to turbos. It must be pretty quick to beat a z06 tho.

Time to get the mods in there. Kinda makes you sick to your stomach when they pull away like that don't it?

Get the headers and h/x pipe on, it would be a different story then.

Finish up the bolt-ons and you'll be all set.......unless he continues to mod, as well. Although, I'm not sure how much power his engine will hold.

Headers, vararam and a tune would have taken care of the 350 no problem. The haltech will probably be fine but,..i'd sell it for a vararam if it was me.

That above combo,..is a pretty good one. Strongly suggest useing the heads and cam asap. Whole different animal bro.

My buddies 01 Zo6 ran 12.20's with just long tubes and a Borla stinger exhaust (stock air box). I think headers will make a pretty big difference for you.
