I love the guys with Firebirds and Vettes in disbelief that he left the headlights up. Maybe you guys noticed there was some traffic around in that video and IT WAS AT NIGHT. I don't think I'd want to be blasting around on a highway with other cars at night with my headlights off. When I had my WS6 I never ran at night with the headlights down, even though the car had fog lights. The track is one thing, the street is another.
Good close runs by two evenly matched cars.
Good Run FASnakes. You waiting until you get beat before tossing on the Whipple?

Yea, and maybe the Cobra should have folded in his sideview mirrors too. It's not like they were at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

This race wasn't at the salt flats?? Well holy ****! When did Captin Obvious register??
I have raced the same car several times with lights up and down, thats how I know it makes a difference in a street race. I'm not throwing in the "maybe" factor, because I have tested and proven this theory several times. It accounted for 1/2-3/4 car length in my races, which isn't that much, but when you are racing a car that is more powerful, you need every edge you can give yourself. In this case, driver mod wasn't one of those edges. Some of these races were very close, in which case, it would have made a difference at 100+mph.
As far as it being dark outside, I could see the street fine from the opposing car's lights. As far as the traffic goes, I don't race with traffic around. If you do, it is probably better to leave them up.

My points were:
- It's a friggen street race, not an event timed to the last .000
- There was traffic in the vid.
- It was dark out
I'm sure if the Cobra lost by a fender and some Cobra owner suggested the result might be different if he'd have folded in his sideview mirrors for less aerodynamic drag (yes they fold in), they'd be laughed off the board.....and rightfully so.
Ultimately, having his headlights off wouldn't have changed the results of these races which were probably around 40ish-130ish. The events the Cobra won would still have been wins, the runs the Cobra lost would still have been losses. Sounds like just another excuse to me.

Good races for sure and a great vid. I guess C5's are faster in the daytime (lights down). J/K
I never really like silver but that just may be my next Cobra color, and a black 3.4 Whipple ofcourse.
A mild (430rwhp) H/C F-body should be a close race with a 400rwhp C5Z.

Dude they are hard as hell to find! Check this one out, local too! I would remove the Cobra R wing BEFORE I left his house though, LOL. Damn good price, $21,900 with a ported blower and only 30K. Still gotta sell the SS.
