They make around 480-500lbs of torque bone stock but ford just rated them very low. Can be very deadly from a dig. One of the reasons why people race them from a roll.

Who cares about times? Its a ugly fat truck. Its like pulling up next to a "drag" civic. Yep faster than my Fbody, still a civic though. Guess which one a girl would rather ride in?

I'm not going to get into a war because the LS1 is faster stock for stock but this is the reason why they're deadly from a dig.. Don't believe me? Watch this video

Top speed on the stock lightning is about 147. A lightly modded lighting might do 152. The SS should do around 160.

There is no way you could have lost a race to 140. You would have been 3-4 mph faster (judging by your writing) at 140 and he would have only been creeping to his top speed.

Poor choice for a race on his part.

We'll were good friends and We raced my bolt on LT1 car vs his Stock Lightning and pulled him up top. So he wanted a re-match it was just a friendly race and he likes running his mouth....needless to say he hasnt ran his mouth latly.

gotta love that. when i get drunk i always get a little cocky and brag to all my friends about my car and none of them believe me it will beat all their cars, but at the same time none of them will race me for fear of losing im guessing. haha!

I see what you're saying but with the hp/tq you can gain with them for little money you'll be in the 11's easy. If you like the drag strip the Lightning is one of the best bang for bucks out there.

We have a custumer with an 2001, Stock with drag radials it went low low 14's. NO BS. Then long tubes slicks, cold air induction, plugs, and Johny Lighting tune and 110 octane, went mid 13's. They are not that strong. Considering they are boosted! I have seen many most are mid 14's to mid 13's. By the way when you only run 99-101 in the quarter who cares that much about areodymamics I was a Ford tech for 12 years, and I accually like lightnings! NICE KILL!!!

Sorry, see:
Silverado SS
454SS
RAM SRT-10
Porsche Cayenne Turbo

Plus, if you think about it, only 9's for the lightning? After being around this long they're not out of the 9's yet? Aren't there any with built old school FEs or 460s faster than that?
