Good kill man!!! I have a buddy that just bought a 500. He just did a bolt ons deal at a local tuner and put down 540's to the wheels. He, like most guys that go out and buy expensive and fast cars, thinks higher of it than us simple guys with a realatively cheap car and tons of mods. I think when we race he is going to get the boat paddle/LOL

Good kill again brutha!

good kill op...

p.s. it seems like someone takes it up to 100 every now and then...why are you complaining about 140?

GT500s are slow until modded. They weigh too much (alot more than OP's vette). Here they run mid/low 13s stock (3000ft altitude). Now add an intake, pulley, tune and hold on to your britches.

They only run 13s in either bad conditions/high altitude, or with a bad driver. They are low-mid 12s cars in the right hands. Good kill OP, and don't sweat the haters

Here's an idea. Quit debating the ethics of doing mildly irresponsibly, but increadibly fun things, and congratulate him on an increadible kill. Also, stock GT500's are making TOPS 430rwhp.

I'll give you high 12's maby. haha
Unless you mean the right hand buy a mechanic then I'll give you mid to lows. Kidding.
I'll see if the dealer here will take out thier new GT500 for a race if he wins I'll buy the car haha.

I don't know about the 100rhwp difference though, if it's running 475+ rwhp on a mustang dyno that's Ford GT territory. Most of the dynos I've seen on them have been in the 415-430 range on a dynojet and 390-400 on a mustang dyno and my 375rwhp is on a Mustang dyno so it would be 400 or a little more on a dynojet. Similar HP and I weigh several hundred lbs. less, the distance seems reasonable from that aspect.
my bad i didnt read that your dyno was on a mustang dyno. a friend of mine dynod his gt500 with exhaust only and it put down 462rwhp. thats where i got my 100hp more. but good kill no matter how it happened

Good kill. Some guys here need a GT500 education. If you can't get a mid 12 out of the car on the stock tires, you shouldn't be buying a manual trans car. DRs = high 11s. Gears and DRs = 11.70.

Hard to find decent drivers these days.

agreed, it is hard to hard decent drivers these days. GT500's should be mid-12 cars right off the showroom floor and although that's a great time for a car that only costs 40K+, it should be alot better given it's HP. The mid-40K performance benchmark is the C6 Corvette and when measured up against it from an overall standpoint it comes up a little short, but so do most cars for that matter. Doesn't take away from the fact that it's a good car and the GT500 just looks sharp in that white and blue scheme.

Although, I love Corvettes I've always had a soft spot for Mustangs since I was a kid and would love to own a 67 fastback. I'm a car guy, not a badge *****.

I thought a GT500 and a C6 were almost identicle in a quarter mile race with the GT500 about 1mph faster. There is a review of these cars in Road and Track. Its the issue withe the new Z06, C6, GT500, and GT. So I think with OPs mods this sounds about right. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong though. Also...his 6 car lengths might be my 3 car lengths. Its really hard to tell exactly HOW many lengths you really put on a car.

True statement, stock vs. stock the GT500 and the LS2 version C6 are about equal from a straight line standpoint. The HP advantage of the GT500 is undone by it's weight.

You're also right about judging car lengths, it's hard to tell exactly how many during the day, at night it's almost impossible. Given the very flat road we were on and there was good light out I was able to judge it pretty well and I was probably 100 feet in front of him thus the 6-8 car length quote.
