Nice ride I talked to a guy that just bought one( gt 500) at a car show and he was saying that it had 500+ hp it was a nice car but Like said befor those thing are running in the 13's stock so nothing to brag about for a 50,000 $ car give me a Vett any day then I'll put a cam and heads on it just incase the ford guy puts twin superchargers on it lol.
I think when TOP Gear did a Dyno run on the new GT500 it only made like 460hp. I wonder if thats from the wheels...they tried to make it look as though the 500hp was way off.

It is mildly irresponsible, sure, but it is damn fun. It's all about picking your moments, am I going to race someone by flying between cars and stuff like that, no. But if given a flat road, no traffic and a worthy opponent, am I going to take the opportunity to have some fun, you're damn right I am.

I didn't buy a Corvette to sputter around town at 30 mph so people could look at me or to leave it parked in the garage. While I respect people's right to do so, to me it's a waste of money and a waste of a great performance car. I bought it to drive it and have it do the things it was designed to do, at the right times. The feel and sound of this car at WOT will instantly drop about 10 years off your age. It's just an incredible car to drive.

I was just happy I got a chance to run with something that was an equal. Ricers normally stay away from me but strangely enough, there have been a number of 335i's that have wanted to take a run at me. I normally don't waste my gas on them but I have destroyed a couple just to put them in their place. Those 335 drivers need to stop believing everything they read on internet car forums.

For Americans, there something cool about seeing a Corvette go a little faster then other cars and people want to see it. I get so many thumbs up from kids, teenagers, etc. when I drive by it's funny.

Funny story, right after I got the car I was stopped at a light and there was an soft-top Eclipse next to me with a 40-ish guy in the passenger seat and his teenager son driving. I see him lean over to his son and next thing the eclipse starts gunning the motor but not real hard. The light turns green and he jumps a little so I accelerate up to 30 pretty fast and hold it there. They get next to me at the next light and the dad goes "Thanks for doing that, I really wanted what it could do and most Vette drivers barely move their cars." That's sad when people naturally think that a Corvette is going to drive slow.

no problem.

I really need to dyno my car again and see where it's at now. I had all that work done at Straightline basically right off the showroom floor and it only had 290 miles on it when it hit the dyno. I'm sure it would do better then that now that the engine has 15K on it. Plus I've been holding off on doing some cam, rods, etc. work. I may do both this summer.

No kidding. I hate seeing a Corvette going down the road 5mph under the speed limit and seeing and old woman driving it. Such a waste. Actually when I go to work now I drive the speed limit. ONLY because my odds of getting to race someone goes way up.

Seems to be a trend. The new Dodge Challenger SRT8 weighs 4140 at a MSRP of $38,000. I hope GM can keep the new camaro a little less portly.

I've seen a cupple at the track thats where I get my #s (13's 1/4) haha I know it comes down to the driver but if thats the case then every guy with a GT 500 that I've seen dosen't know how to drive it.
I live in one of the poorest county in Mi yet thier Is a RED Vett and a blue/white GT 500 at the dealers here ha ha I like to look at both of them. I'm a car guy I like alot of diffrent flavors.

Wow, I was right. You really do bitch about everything in every thread you enter.

Great kill, OP. I'd love to run one of those GT500s, especially on the highway.

I don't think you are correct. MMFF got 12.2 out of the GT500 stock. I don't think a car that weighs as much with 123 less BHP is going to run a 12.2even with sticky tires. The 07 427R runs 13.0 on stock tires and to my knowledge is not available with an auto.

You have a link to that MMFF article?
