Default Roush 427R

Last night me and my buddy were rolling down the freeway when I came across a new style mustang with some sort of wheels and body kit. I pulled nest to him and saw some decals that said 427R and it had Roush emblems on the fenders, there was a hood scoop that said "Supercharged". So we were rolling side by side and I down shifted to 3rd@60mph (not a good speed but it didnt matter) he took off and I pulled even and put a car on him where he shut down @ 100mph. I lined back up wiyh him @ 50 and this time was waiting in 2nd gear, I gave him the jump and proceded to put 3-4 cars on him up to 120mph. It was a pretty quick little mustang, but not quite enough for the Z, I asked him on the feeder road how much power and he said it dynoed 495, I assume he had a few minor bolt ons because I looked it up and and stock it has 427HP. Here is some info on the car, it looked REALLY good from the rear.

Owner was an idiot. In this month's MMFF an auto 427R ran a 12.4@108 with stock tires and 12.2@109 with DR's. They should be no problem for an LS1 with LT's

Yea my Z06 traps in the 120's, he said it dynoed 495 so I assume it was modded. Oh well, at least it looked good, lol. But 12.20's out of a stock automatic mustang aint that bad anyway. Quicker than most stock 01-04 Z06's.

Good kill!

I'm pretty impressed that it went 12.4 with only a 108 trap speed on the stock tires. Auto LS1's have trapped 106-107 stock but not hit anywhere near that et. Wonder if they come with a converter from Roush?

Not sure, the car I ran was a manual for sure, Im sure the manual tranny cars trap 112-114 stock, but I just never understood the Saleen and Roush stangs when ford offered a Cobra which come with a forged 4V motor and more power in an overall better package for much less, when with the Saleen and Roush cars all you are getting is a SC stock motor 2/3V car which is pretty much nothing more than a good looking ticking timebomb.

IIRC, the 427HP is at the flywheel, not the wheels. Sad to pay that much and get so little.

Ever try and take a Stage 3 Roush or a S281E through any corners?

The 427R is rated at the flywheel at 427 horses. For 495rwhp he would have a pulley swap along with some other bolt ons.

No converter from Roush.

And yes the manual cars can trap from 110-113mph or so.

Im sure my poor old Z06 could give those mustangs a run for their money on a road course, in fact, I think it turns, brakes and accelerates better than them, I think it might be ugly. But those 99+ Saleens were the **** as far as how they looked!

he was full of **** on the power. they make like 375rwhp stock and he would hafta change the blower to make 495, those blowers hafta kill themselves to make 450rwhp. and if he was makin 495 rwhp he should have been able to keep up alot better

Since when does a 427R run low 12's? I thought they were good for high 12's?

Great kills, regardless of the power it was making.

The new ones are rated 435 flywheel hp and are available with an auto. The stick ones probably run the stereotypical high 12's at 110-112, but MM&FF just got an auto one to go 12.2 @ 109 on drag radials and 12.4 @ 108 on stock tires.

There are still too many people that can't grasp the difference between flywheel and rear wheel horsepower

12.4's on M&H Dr's. But by looking at his 60' it could of done better.

Heres his slip

60' 2.1
1/4 12.47
MPH 114.74
