That's pretty much how the S2000 is... it's a lot like a 600cc bike in the way you have to drive it to get the most out of it. It's not much below 6,000rpm, but you launch at 6,000-7,000rpm and shift at 9,000rpm. So if you drive it correctly, you're never really out of the powerband. And just taking off normally you're already at ~3,000rpm by the time the clutch is all the way out.

I had an 01 S2000 with a Toda header, J's 70mm headerback exhaust, Injen CAI, and a 75 shot. It also had a lot of exterior mods (Varis front bumper, Work Emotions CR KAI's, Project Kics Lugs, coilovers, Sparco Torinos with harnesses, vented hood, Spoon TI shift ****, etc). With the 75 shot, there wasn't much i couldn't take around my area. I would say it would've been a very high 12 second car. I then pushed it up to 100hp shot and the motor blew after 5 pulls.

The only internals that are forged are the pistons, by the way. With just a 3mm headgasket, though, you can safely run over 20 psi. I had a custom turbo kit that i never put on and ended up selling to buy a new engine after mine blew. It is definitely possible to have 600hp in a S2000, but with only 20 psi, i think he'd be around 400 on motor, and around 440 with the 50 shot. That is only a rough estimate of all the charts I've seen, though, and I'm assuming he has a streetable turbo like a GT30R or a GT35R at most.

My point is, without forced induction, the S2000 is not much in a straight line. It is quick, but the car is more fun in the corners and curves. In a straight line it needs nitrous/turbo/supercharger to be "fast" in my opinion.

In case anyone is curious, here is a few vids of my S2000 on the 75 shot. The first is a S/C G35, which has the same motor as the OP's race with the 350Z. The second is against the same G35, but instead of 8psi, he was running 10 psi. The third is against a Evo IX MR with a 20G turbo at 17lbs. The last is against a STOCK C6 Z06 Corvette...it is such a fast car!

Sorry to be somewhat offpost, i just figured i'd chime in about the S2000's since i have had one and am very familiar with them. To the OP, i can definitely believe that you beat the S/C'd 350Z. They aren't that fast without mods, and with a S/C they can become decent.

Thanks. The LS1's are A LOT faster stock for stock than a S2000 or a 350Z. When modded with the normal bolt-ons, it's an even larger discrepancy between them. A 350Z and a S2K are always about a driver's race (except the 07 rev-up 350Z's are significantly quicker). For either one of them to hang with even a stock LS1, they need FI.

Low-mid 20s average... it's only a 4cyl, but because of the steep gearing (~3,000rpm @ 70mph), the city mileage is almost as good as the highway mileage.

Ah. Yea, my friends steep gearing in his 03 SI is ridiculous. 55mph is like 2700 rpm's in 5th. 70 would be crazy. But still gets pretty decent gas milage. Also quick question...how do SI's stack up against s2000? 1/4 mile times?

Si's are mid-high 14s car with the BEST driver/conditions... trap 94-96mph. A CAI/tuned Si is about even with a 2.0 S2000. But of course the S2000 is about eleventy-billion times more fun

Thanks, BTW the sc 350Z was a fun race since we were a close match. Now it's time for some headers and a 125 shot LOL! Nice S2000 you had. My friend is running 20psi on a GT40 or something (i don't know the names of turbos well) along with forged internals 9.? compression, cams and also on his dyno sheet he gained 60hp from a 50 shot. Like I said before, I wish I had the money to do that to mine.

Have you bumped your head??? There are 07 Z's going 13.01 STOCK
. If he is not making this up, and I'm not saying he is, then I'd guess the Z lost traction or had some other trouble. Most SC'd Z's put down close to 375 to the wheels. I'm running a stock block TT set up and put down 416rwhp. Show me a stock or slightly modded LS1 that could give me a run in a clean race. You FAIL!

So you wanna race a pretty much stock car with ur TT car?

Sounds to me like we have equal mods, so do u wanna line 'em up??

lol, what do you run in the 1/4mile? you tell us your hp and mods but none of that matters, its all about 1/4mile time. Instead of challengeing slightly modded ls1 cars try a ls1 car with the same hp as you. If you still have the IRS rear end then have fun when you brake half shafts lol, also vq blocks have nothing on the RB blocks

You took that out of context. I'm not looking for a race. He said that a Z "NEEDED" to be FI "to even keep up". Could not be farther from the truth.

I can see we're evenly matched. After I get done beating you I'm gonna go kick Mike Tyson's *** too!

Guys, your misreading what I'm saying. I'm not here to challenge ANYBODY! I haven't gotten my car to a real strip yet. Only the local bs one which is nothing more than a legal street race spot. And yes, I realize that you can make a lot more power out of a RB, not disputing that. I'd race anybody. It's all in fun. Even the guy in the previous post. If I lost, which I probably would I lost to a car w/ almost twice the HP. BTW, I've listed no mods, just numbers. No, still have the factory rear, as of now.
