Default NSX Kill

I was riding down the road and came across a red NSX so I figured i would try to run him. Looked like a mid 30's age guy and he was zig zaggin around in the road. So finally we get to the light behind some cars and the light changes green and he zig zags his way up instead of just waiting for me until we hit the open road, maybe he didnt notice me at first.

I finally am nearing his back bumper and he nails it and had a nice leading start on me but I chase anyway not even through one entire gear and of course I didnt pull him, he had a big running start and I only went through barely a gear.

So finally I get next to him and he slows to a bit before 70, my nice spot in the 6 speed. We hit it and go till 110 or so with me shifting at 7K and this time its multiple car lengths any maybe even a few buslengths, I wasnt paying to much attention to where he was until i had already let off.

He gave me a thumbs up and so did I and we went on our way. Cool car, cool guy, fun race. Thats my first kill in a very long time and it was fun. What do those NSX's run anyway and what are they HP wise? I doubt his was stock because it did seem to run pretty hard, I didnt think they were really fast stock.

Oh and I ran on motor, no spray, almost forgot to mention that.

Nice kill OP..

The 91-96's run 13.5-14.5 at 100-105 mph stock

The 97-2005's run 12.9-13.9 at 106-111 mph stock

The 2002-2005 NSX-R's run in the 12.7-13.7 at 107-112 range stock ( lighter more race ready version)

Unfortunetly every car I just listed looks 99% the same so who knows what you just ran against????

Good kill on that expensive rice

Mines a 91 and looks exactly like a 2001 minus a few subtle changes on the front lip..In 2002 they finally did a redesighn of the front end and headlights..Everything else sill looks the same though..

My 91 and my buddies 2005 have the same exact interior..Thats how little they changed the car from 91-2005

Heres a pic of my 91

I am sure it was at least a 97, it looked really good like a newer car no more than 10 years old. And I think his front was different too.

Now I want to go out and get my bottle filled and make a few more runs.

Couple buslengths with around 400 rwhp means you probally raced a 91-96 that was stock..

On motor you probally run high 11's at 117 plus mph...That would put a few buslengths on a stock high 13 at 100-105 mph 91-96 NSX..

Thank God you didnt use the spray..he may have had to sell it

Sorry man no disrespect...
most LS1's get between 380-420 rwhp SAE with H/C...If you got 465 rwhp SAE out of the 347 with H/C and bolt ons then thats a pretty nice set up you got and congrats...

But like I figured 117 plus mph..So 119-121 is about right with 465 plus rwhp your pushin at the rear wheels..I bet you've surprised more than a few fast cars with that set up...

My SRT10 would have put 2 buses on my buddies stock 2005 NSX if we had ever had the need to race them..Since my stock 99 Viper put 1 bus on it..

The SRT10 was 3390 pounds and 459 rwhp before I did more mods to it..So yea you could have easily been racing one of the newer ones..

What was your best ET with that beaste?

380-420 SAE means you speced out a lacking head and cam setup if you ask me. Theres no reason not to be able to make 450 with a mid size cam and a decent heads with all boltons. My numbers have been backed up on 2 different dynos too.

No track times yet on the new motor, its hard to make it to the track here because there is no 1/4 around here. Car moves out pretty good though. It feels as powerful as my old setup did which was boltons only plus nitrous and the numbers are close too.

Sorry man..It's just all in the times..from 98-2004 I drove a v6 camaro..from 2000-2004 I started lusting after a 300 rwhp bone stock c5 vette..

In March 2004 I was finally at a point to afford a brand new C5 and got her..back then 400 rwhp was pretty stout..I got 378 rwhp with LS6 heads and 224/224 cam..

But like I said it's all in the times..These days theve come so far in H/C set ups for LS1's that I guess your right...Ive just never seen a LS1 get over 420 rwhp SAE here in Hawaii ( Im a dyno fanatic at BSM here in hawaii)I did see a 408 WS6 put down 460 rwhp though SAE..

Like I said you got a beaste

Yeah 450+ is more common today even with the smaller cams. Im a 232/236 cam.

A well built 408 should go well over 500HP SAE also. Of course I would be assuming 6 speed and not some big stall th400 auto, they eat power.

If it looked like this:

It was one of the latter cars. Officially all NSX's where rated at about 280bhp due to legal reasons in Japan (same as all other Jap performance cars of the same era).

However using GPS timing gear (V-Box) Autocar magazine got one of these latter NSX's 0-100mph in 10.6 seconds. Same test equipment saw a C6 z51 doing 0-100mph in 9.9 seconds.

So it fairly safe to assume the latter NSX's where underatted, but as any LS1 Fbody owner knows this does happen

That aside with your setup you'd put bus lengths on even the fastest stock NSX despite what anyone else may claim.
