That's just the facts of it.... although, a couple WOT blasts, and gas mileage drops below 10

So do I, and I agree with you- but that's an LS1.

These SB Fords however, are absolute gas hogs.

I'm gonna have to agree with you there. Even when it was stock, my 4.0 V6 would only get 25-26mpg highway and 17-19 city.

Half the reason LS1s get such good gas mileage is the transmission gearing... I'd like to see what a Mach 1 would get for gas mileage if it had a T-56.

Do you use nitrous or something? How are you getting low 12's and 25mpg?
just thought id thorw a little gas on the fire, my car has run a best of 12.01@111 on motor alone. the car made 305rwhp and 345 torque on a mustang dyno on the 91 street tune. it gets 26 mpg if i can keep the foot out of the throttle. my best nitrous pass was an 11.79@126 with a 150 shot but i broke the differential and half the teeth off of the gear on the launch and still ran that. it makes 485 rwhp and 600 fot lbs of torque. anyways just saying they can get decent mileage and still make decent power. oh and mine is just a lowly little 2v too.

You're a dumbass if you think a car that weighs 3000lbs can't knock off a 12 flat with his power and gearing.
