Default me vs. 03 mach 1 with vortech at 10.5 boost

so i raced a mach1 (same year) awhile ago it was stock and it was pretty much a dead even race i got him in the top end tho. this brings us to last weekend when this kid asked me to race his car. he said it was a mach1 with a vortech at 10.5 lbs boost. So i was like wtf why not youll rape me but racings fun. so we went a little out of town to a quarter thats been marked off by racers. we lined up. i had his friend honk the horn and we launched. i took off launched my car perfectly he kinda grandpa'd it so i keep going just expecting him to fly right by me. before i know it i missed third and he still hasnt passed me so i got it into third and back on the gas we passed the finish line and he was about a half car ahead of me.... yeah how bad of a driver do you have to be to almost loose to a 325ish hp camaro when you have a mach1 pushing over 400hp. it was sad that a stock mach1 made a better race.

Maybe he busted his motor and couldn't go any faster! At least that's what is going to happen if he is really running 10.5psi of boost on a stock Mach 1 motor bottom end. The safe limit is about 8psi on these motors stock. That will translate to about 425-430whp with a fairly conservative tune, and about 440-460whp with a more aggressive, leaner tune.

Just goes to show you how much driving matters. My buddy had a TT Saleen making 416 rwhp 436 rwtq. My other buddy use to have a 350Z making 250ish rwhp. When they raced from a roll the Saleen would pull ahead, but every shift the Z would catch back up. Driving is the key unless you're racing two autos.

Wow, I would be pissed if I couldn't drive that car around a mostly stock F-body, lol.

Try driving my auto if you think it's easy!! I have to baby it out of the hole. If not I'll spin right through to 3rd gear on the street.

X2 My suggestion is run him again, if he has stock pistons and rods you will eventually blow him away, and he'll be draining the coolant from his oilpan.

or pulling the rods and piston pieces out of his oilpan. thats what happened to my stock motor. it lasted for awhile with 450 rwhp with a procharger, but when it let loose, it was nasty

yeah the kid bought the car like that he didnt do it himself which is what almost all of the people around here do. and everyone knows whats everyone has because there are not that many raceable cars here its mainly highschool kids with hondas and ****. there were two high school kids driving around in daddy's brand new 08 gt 500 racing anyone and everyone and i was able to beat him from a roll because the kid was like 15 and couldnt drive a stick worth a dick. funny thing is his dad must have sold it or something because now the two kids are running around in a 06 viper. i launch my car from a roll next to him but he didnt do anything.
