well it would be cool to then try to get a kit together with13 in rotors and an d a zo6 caliper that would be the best bang for the buck

That is what I was thinking. You are talking about the C6 ZO6 caliper right? Maybe a 13" rotor with the CTS-V calipers as a cheaper option?

They are the same as C5's from I understand. Same caliper and everything. The Z51 has an upgrade though.

theres two routes to take.

1) using Fbody abutment brackets and pads
-LG style C5 conversion brackets (PM me if you want info on a cheaper but similar one)
-C5 or c6 caliper of choice
-C5 Rotor (plain faced or drilled or slotted)
-C5 anti squeel clips (caliper part)
-Fbody anti squeel clips (pad ends)
-Fbody
-Fbody pads
-Fbody braided lines (optional)

2) Corvette abutment brackets with Corvette pads.
-UMI or BMR style C5 conversion brackets
-C5 or c6 caliper of choice
-Matching C5 or C6 abutment brackets
-C5 Rotor (plain faced or drilled or slotted)
--C5 anti squeel clips (both caliper and pad ends)
-Matching Corvette pads
-Fbody braided lines (optional)

Type 1 is better because pads will be cheaper (generally) and if you get the calipers directly from GM the abutment bracket is additional, so more cost. Also, you dont have to cut the knuckle, so it can be returned to stock when you sell the car or upgrade later.

Type 2 is better because you can get the Z51 rotor in there (bigger) and there MIGHT be more performance options for Corvettes in the brake pad world.

yea im split between the 2 but i think that it would be cheaper to go the first route anyway just because cutting the knuckle doesnt sound that great

Meh, it's not that bad to cut. The ones on my car have been on there for years with no issues. As long as quality pads and rotors are used they last quite a while. I don't remember the pads or rotors being much more than F-body parts either... but it's been a while and this wasn't my car back when we put new pads and rotors on.

I got knuckles from a junkyard for $20 a pair. Cut, smoothed, painted, assembled, installed. Was going to keep the original ones but later threw them out with all the other old brake ****.
Seems like some folks got a tight wallet.

I DON'T MEAN TO STEAL THIS THREAD. i just purchased a set of C5 brakes, Calipers and Rotors. Where can I find the Bracket needed to mount these without haveing to cut anything? I want a high quality bracket.

LG at least use to make a set that used the F-body abutment bracket. Not sure if they still do, they dropped a lot of their F-body products. Otherwise UMI makes a good set if you can bring yourself to cut the spindle. Their isn't really an adverse effect that I notice from cutting them. Like I said these have been on this car since about 04/05 and still no problems.

I've been looking for the "lg" brackets but can't find them anywhere, not even on the lg website. I may just go with umi and cut the ears off.

My biggest question now is, what needs to be done to the rear to mount the rear calipers or do i need to do anything?

theres not much needed to be done to the rears. i hear that the corvette rears bolt right up, but they arent much better than stock, so it would be wasted money.

IM PMing you a link to an auction for an "LG style" bracket.

How would you go about doing that, exactly?

NM. Brackets and wheel change. Interesting. Maybe I will do that next time I do a brake change.

I got a set of front and rear C5 brakes, calipers and brackets, and planned to run the full set on both the front and rear on my Fbody. But, the C5 brakes on the rear did not work out so well.

For the rear I ended up just using the C5 calipers and pads but not the C5 pad abutment bracket (PAB) or the C5 rotor (that has the directional vanes for better cooling). The problem was that the e-brake is set up a little differently and hence the Fbody rear rotors are a little taller than the C5. The C5 rotors only covered up about half of the e-brake pad. I talked to a guy at KORE3 and he said that they had researched several options for a conversion kit for the rears but nothing was very practical. You can run the C5 calipers and pads with the Fbody PAB very easily though, just swap them out.

So only the c5 caliper will work on the rear? The e-brake still works fine also?
