Default Torque arm or shocks?

I have about $400 that I'm willing to spend on suspension right now. I have a few other suspension upgrades (DR's, LCA's, and a PHB), but these would be the next two things on my list, as far as suspension goes. I will end up getting both eventually, but which is more important at this time, and which will I see the biggest improvement from? Car has about 70K miles, so I'm assuming I could really use some shocks, but I've also heard the stock torque arms are extremely weak. Btw, I'd probably be getting Bilsteins if I decided to do the shocks first (I'll be staying stock ride height). Thanks for the help.

shocks are the most important thing in your suspension. I would go with KYB AGX's since your looking at around $400. they are on car adjustable too.

i would do shocks and relocation brackets for the lca's if you are looking for straight line traction.

Man, I would get the Bilsteins. I couldn't believe how much they improved the ride - and handling, too. I later went to Konis on the front for the lowering effect. But I miss how my car rode with Bilsteins at stock ride height.

if you plan on lowering, dont get bilsteins since they do not work well with shorter springs... im sure Strano will pop in and tell you all about it... dont know how many times this topic has been discussed.

Two very, very different things there, a TA vs. shocks....

Shocks will make the car ride better over bigger bumps, track better in general, generate roll and pitch more slowly and overall just feel more in control. A TA is to help if you have wheelhop issues or some other situation. A TA is not a handling or suspension part in the same sense shocks, springs, or swaybars are.

What are you trying to change about how the car drives?

Hey Sam. I'm trying to get whatever will improve overall handling the best for me when the car comes back out from storage. Once it comes back out, it will be my daily driver. I will be getting both a TA and shocks eventually, but I wanted to buy whatever will give me the biggest improvement first. From the responses, it seems that the shocks would be the better option. The only reason I was considering getting a TA first is because I've heard that the stock ones can break easily.

Do the shocks first and then the TA. If I were you, I would do some SFC's too.

if the car is being built for cornering/daily driving, do the shocks first.

if the car is mainly a drag racing car, then i'd consider doing the torque arm first, along with some LCA relocation brackets.
