Default 17 or 18 inch wheels?

I have been searching for some time now maybe I just suck at searching but I can not find a ton of information on lowering a car with larger wheels. I am very interested in getting the Strano 1.2 lowering springs. I am looking at either 17 x 9.5 or 18 x 9.5 Y2K corvette wheels. I would really like to go with the 18's but before doing this I want to make sure this will all fit with, and what shocks would work the best for this. Just FYI i am brand new to all this stuff so don't kill me if its a dumb question.

Thanks!

If there is information on this just let me know the link!

18x9.5 will work with the Strano springs. I have 18x9.5 in the front and 18x10.5 in the rear and I will not have a problem when I put the Strano springs on my car. Just make sure that when you add the springs that you also add the afjustable panhard rod, to recenter the rear axle.

I wouldn't think that the 17 or 18 inch size would matter that much. Unless your wheel weight went sky high, calling for more compression damping but I doubt that will be needed.

you wont have a problem as long as you keep the outside tire diameter the same. very few Fbodies have factory wheels still, and a huge proportion of them are lowered.

I'd vote for 17x11's on all four corners. They fit on lowered cars with a little persuasion.

The only time the rears rub a little is under high cornering loads with my DOT-R tires. You will never generate these much of a load on the street with street tires, so they will not rub. You would have to roll the fender lip. They do fit much better on the front

So I have 315x35R17's on all four corners. The backspacing is 7 3/4 inch and I do run a 1/4 inch spacer on the front. No rubbing what-so-ever on the front.

I kept the stock springs in the rear with an 18 x 10.5 rim because with lowering springs the tires would rub if had someone in the back seat and hit a bump. So I ended up lowering the front and just throwing in some new stock height springs in the rear.
