Default Best Rotors

hey guys, i'm trying to decide what kind of rotors to get, I have a grand total budget of 500 bucks for Rotors and pads on the front (and possibly rear) I have decided on Hawk pads but don't know which brand of rotors is best. No brembo or wilwood, please, only serious, good rotors for daily driving and an occasional run down the track. Some that i'm considering are R1 Concepts, EBC, Cragar, and power slot.

No Brembo? Why not? Brembo blanks are not too expensive. However, Sam Strano thinks the ATE ones are just as good, and so I would trust that as well.

R1 Concepts, EBC's, Cragar, and/or powerslots are mostly gimmicks.

Just get blanks. The slots and especially drills only weaken the rotor and give you no benefit. They also make your pads wear faster. They are the #1 gimmicks in brakes IMO.

They do, if you want to dish out a ton of money for them. The blanks are much cheaper. ATE's are what I'll pick up next time I need rotors.

Though the end of the month, any setup that includes 4 ATE rotors (BP1, 2, or 3) have free shipping to the Continental US. That can be a savings of as much as $60.....

A note on the ATE rotors. ATE is a division of Continental/Teves. They make things like tires and brake systems, many for German OEM's. These are not cheap rotors that someone decided to slash some slots in. A number of folks here have them, and I've only ever had one issue--and that was a noise issue (a growl) on one rear rotor and the replacement did not do it. ATE exchanged it without hassle or drama. Anytime you get a 1 out of hundreds issue rate (not a failure rate), that's pretty damned impressive. Not one has cracked, and not one word from any customers on warping either--including a few customers who heat checked and slighly warped Brembo, fwiw.

2 or 4WD? I think they might be the same, but before I do digging I've learned it's just best to ask up front. Looks 2WD to me but it's hard to see the avatar pic as well as I'd like (and assuming that's even the truck you are asking about...).

If it's 2WD, the fronts are $69 each. Rears are $105.00 each. I don't think I can get the supplier to extend the free shipping on those because they aren't on the normal order, but I can ask.

Yes, 99 GMC Sierra 1500 NBS, 2WD, Regular Cab, six lug wheels. Thanks. thats an insanely low price... I was expecting like $200 minimum for the pair. If you can get them for that low i'll take em. BTW how much would shipping be?

Expect around $20, could be a little more (note that I was saying for 2 here, not for all 4)

Ok honeycutt.dewey, here's the deal.

The prices I gave are per rotor. So the fronts are $69 each, rears $105 each. Total would be $348 for the set.

My warehouse is placing an order tomorrow. They are not a normal stocking number, but if call me today and I can get them on the order tomorrow, we'll only have to wait for them arrive *AND* I can split the shipping with you--$25. If we wait, it'll take longer and the shipping would be more like $50-55 for a full set because we'll lose the shipping offer.

I'm here now. Call me @ 800-729-1831. Leave me message if I can't answer. Call me back, whatever. As long as the order in done tonight it's a done deal.

How's that sound?

sounds fantastic, but the only problem is that as of now, i'm broke. I have to wait until the old tax refund comes in. If the offer is still good, then I'll take all four.

Brembo blanks, and use Hawk HP+ pads, change out your brake fluid with ATE blue, and if you got a few extra $ get a set of steel lines, Sams got everything you need.

The prices will still be good... just have a bit more shipping. Let me know when you want to go ahead!
