hawk HPS is all youll need for the street. 98% of any braking improvement is from the pads, not the rotors. tirerack had a sale on OEM replacement C5 pads, $22 a set. couldnt go wrong, and thats what i use for street and autox.

Brembo's now are not what they once were (cost cutting). Still decent, but you'll have a harder and harder time finding them because they pulled stocking warehouse distribution centers out of the US to, I guess, cut costs. That requires a minimum order from a company to get rotors (and it's a huge amount).... so many suppliers aren't able to do them anymore.

then any parts store rotor will be fine. see what brands they have. bendix, raybestos, the old school brake names are more then enough for street driving. as i said before, some stores have a lifetime warrenty on rotors. so even if they are cheap and end up warping, you can replace them for nothing.

FYI, when i said driving on a track in the other posts, i meant a real track, ie: road course. it doesnt matter what you have for rotors if you just stab & steer drag race.

Would you recommend the ate's over them?

I do... They are more readily available (though fronts are very scarce right now). They are coated where Brembo's aren't too.

Not to add fuel, but GM also put the 10-bolt in camaros and firebirds, which is blatantly terrible since you can break them in 245 street tires (ask me how I know). And the roof panel that comes delaminated on Z06's...

I love my car, but I'd be the first to tell you they made some mistakes building it. I am also saying nothing against the ZR1 brakes, but just because GM puts it on a car doesn't make it awesome. Just because any car company puts a part on a car doesn't mean it's awesome.

I think the bottom line is that STEEL brakes like 99% of us use on the street do not take track time or other hard abuse very well if they are drilled.

Alright, clearly everyone in this thread thinks I'm an idiot. . .

I've never said what brakes I'm running or what I favor, just asked questions and posted pictures myself. I've been called names, received not so nice PMs and for what? Where in the hell did the 10-bolt come into this? **** if I know. So what if I said Ferrari was better than the F-body? So what if I have a tornado in my intake? Dude asked about brakes, someone else posts derogatory comments about drilled brakes so I showed some and suddenly I'm the leper. . .

I wasn't saying you're an idiot. All I am saying is that there is a legitimate argument against slotted rotors. You posted up saying basically "Look, GM did it with the ZR1, so it's good." I'm just saying GM has made some not so excellent calls in the past in terms of parts. A lot of people have problems with drilled brakes, myself being one of them. Not a personal attack on my part, sorry if it came off that way.

article in a mag a couple of month ago, can't remember which one, will look at home if i need to......

...anyway, written by experts at Wildwood, we do know what they're famous for, right

they said slotted were more than adequate for most apps, cleaned the pads, less prone to cracks, etc, etc....but said if ya' want looks, go D'n'S.....

they also agreed good pads were the greatest diff....

guess what is on my car ????

well said. Show up at a road course with drilled and slotted rotors that are the stock diameter, and youll get laughed at.
