Default Poly or Rod end LCA

Just trying to decide which one to get poly/poly double adjustable or ones with rods ends on both sides. Its a steet/strip car LT1 heads and cam with a th350 and 4000 stall plus 28'' et streets.

Since I get the impression that corner carving isn't a priority; poly/rod end LCA's.

^^ I agree. If your car isn't a strictly strip car or the roads in town are not smooth as ice, stay away from the rod/rod setup (ask me how i know).

^^^ click that link and look at the J style. that is what 99Bluz28 means. he has a JJ style set.

I ran poly/poly boxed LCA's for about ~3 years with no problems. They definitely helped improve how my car launched at the track, and I never noticed any ill effects on the street from them .

I did even do some track (road course) days with them for the first season I got into it, and the car still handled "ok" IMO!!!

For street/strip though, poly/poly would be fine (and probably cheapest).

The only downside to poly/poly I can see is that they resist letting the rear axle pivot. I got poly/rod but ultimately I bet you'd notice the noise more than binding in the rear.

Unless you're at the strip constantly, more than 90-95% of your time is going to be on the street. I would go with poly/poly DA's just because you have to actually drive on the street and put up with the noise of spherical ends on the street.
Build it for how you actually drive it, not how you want to drive it. For me, being realistic in my expectations is probably one of the hardest things I have to do.

Hello,

I would recommend the poly/poly adjustable set-up. Since the car is more of a street set-up the poly bushings will be quieter and smoother with less maintenance. Also seeing your are running 28" tall tires I recommend the adjust-ability to make sure the wheels are good and centered in the wheel wells. Here is the item I recommend- www.umiperformance.com/2018

thanks, i never thought of it that way......Meaning build it how you drive it not how you want to drive it. I will be gettng the poly/poly with the adjuster in the middle so i can center the rear tires.

x3^^^^ The rod end/rod end SUCK on the street!!!! So damn noisy. Sounds like the rear end is going to fall out of the car when you get in a bumpy section.

Yeah a rod/rod end is a little harsh for on the street! If the vehicle is going to be used as a street and strip car I would suggest going with a poly/rod end or like Ryan mentioned above a adjustable poly/poly. If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will be more than glad to help!

FWIW, I have UMI poly/rod arms on my '02, and they don't bother me at all on the street . The reason I went with them over the old poly/poly arms I used to have was because I got into road racing the car (wanted to avoid the rear axle bind).

However, like I mentioned above, I did run poly/poly arms on the road course, and can't say that I noticed any problems because of it! But when I upgraded the rest of the suspension, I didn't want to sacrifice anything.

On my race car ('93 Z28) I have rod/rod arms, and yes, the whole car is more harsh .

Check out Spohns new DelSphere units...you get quiet performance, plus 28 degrees of rotation! You can tighten the pivot joint, and lock it back it miles down the road to restore to like new feel. Pivot joints use Duponts Delrin material, which is said to never wear out and is self lubricating! Pretty bad ***!
