Hello, like others have stated, don't cut the springs. Do the heater hose mod and give me a call when you need some springs. They will lower the car 1.25" and have a lifetime guarantee. Here are a couple pics of cars with our springs on. We always have a good price on the springs.

Yes, go ahead and cut the front springs 3/4 of a coil and do the heater hose mod in the rear. It will correct the 4x4 look, but won't give the look of truly lowered car. Best part is that it's free and will improve the stance of the car until you can afford the springs you want.

To all those who say no have you ever done it? I have cut springs on several fbodys and every single one of them absolutly love it! You can get the lower look without the harsh ride of sportlines or comparable springs. Here are a couple photos of my brothers car after I did his. Its 1 1/2 coils off the front and 1 in the rear with the heater hose mod. Just dont use a torch or anything to heat them up and dont do more than what I just stated. He and everyone elses i've cut love em. Rides like stock and looks . Always seems to be people chime in who really don't have a clue or just go off of rumors. Do a search and you find several threads of people who do it to get by and end up keeping it that way.

I only said to not cut them bc it just seems like a half *** job and if you have wide tires they will rub the rear fender wells and the fronts will eat away at the inner fender well. I know from experience.

What does cutting them have to do with this? Honest question. What role does cutting the springs have in tires hitting over aftermarket springs doing it? Either way your dropping the car.
Edit: And my coment earlier in the thread wasn't directed at you fwiw

Hello
Just another suggestion for you! Anytime that you lower a vehicle the rear is going to shift. Therefore a easy fix for that would be a adjustable pan hard bar to allow you to recenter the rear back under the vehicle. Below is a link to show you what UMI Performance has to offer!

If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will be more than glad to help.
Thanks
Brad

to the OP, if you're doing this just for looks that's fine.
here are my thoughts on cutting springs:
if you're too cheap to buy the springs, then chances are you're not going to be buying new shocks designed for the lower ride height(stock shocks are valved for stock ride height) and they're crappy enough as it is. also, your car will probably be out of alignment afterwards, the rear will be more off center than it was stock, wider tires are then more likely to rub, and you'll be nailing the bumpstops harder and more often since you're sitting closer to them on such soft springs. also, the lower control arm angle will be off which can drastically effect launching capabilities. but hey, IT LOOKS GOOD!

FWIW, I dont see the problem with cutting springs. Yeah its the "cheap way", but if you get the right shocks theres no difference other than a possible better ride quality (still having stock springs). As far as the "lower control arm" angle being a problem? seriously? lowering springs are gonna do that anyway, get it aligned. Also about the rear end being off center now, I am running all stock on my car and the right rear tire contacts the inner fender whereas the driver rear does not. I had to bang the inner fender in a little bit today to keep it from rubbing on hard lefts. So I would think it wouldnt be too far off after 1" lowering.
OP, do it man, I plan on doing it, its cheaper and its gonna ride better than rigid aftermarket springs. Also wtf is the heater hose mod? Im still a little new to my car
