Default BMR 1.25" springs/koni....front drop not what i expected

finally got around to installing my shocks/springs.

BMR 1.25" springs
Koni SA 4/4

everything came apart really well considering the car's age, although it only has 73K miles.

got the front drivers side done, started on the passenger only to realize i forgot to install the large washer at the top of the shock. so after doing the passenger correctly, i pulled the drivers out again and put it together the right way.

rears went in with minimal hassle. although the springs didn't exactly "fall out" after dropping the rear end, had to pry them out a bit.

initial thoughts:

in the rush to get finished i totally forgot to get "before" measurements of the rears. but they look like they dropped the expected.

the fronts however, were barely noticable. after doing some measureing it appears they only dropped .75" on each side. not sure why? could be they just need a bit of time to settle.
measurements are :
before 27.625"
after 26.875"

rears end up at 26.625"

Actually, I'm running Strano springs with Koni SA's and my front measeres about the same as yours.

However, your rear seems a little low...did you put the isolator back in.? I'm right around 26.75" front, but just a hair higher in the rears...not quite to 27".

The front does seem to be a little off on our T/A with stock diameter tires the front fender well measurement was 26 1/16" both sides.

Give it a day or so and see what happens.....

isolators ARE in on the rear.

in all reality, i was worried i would get too much lowering. so honestly, if the fronts stay where they are, i'll just do something to boost the rear a smidgen and i'll be PERFECT!!!

question...
the little spring isolator IS supposed to be used on the bottom spring perch for the front right?? if not it would be metal to metal.

here are some pics:

drove 50 miles tonight...over some uneven roads.

springs/shocks feel GREAT!!!
i guessed on the shock setting. i did 50% front and 1 turn from full soft rear.

springs are noticably stiffer, but not at all harsh.

the shocks give a feeling of "quicker to respond" when hitting a rough spot.

springs look like they settled a bit, but i'm on a dirt lot, i'll measure them after the return 50 mile trip.

Maybe they need to settle alittle still. Drive it around for a while and im sure you will see a difference.

in all reality, even if they don't settle more, i don't mind.

i was actually worried about being too low, and was looking at ways to use the stiffer lowering springs but to get less drop.
threw around putting the BMR 1/2" spacers in the front, and then making a spacer to go in the rear.

i may still end up doing that. so we'll see.

either way i'm pretty freakin happy. car looks awesome, handles great (even without an alignment) and just feels fantastic.

I know it is a pretty straight forweard install, my koni/bmr's didnt come with any intructions . I havent pulled the wheels off, but the new shocks/struts arent even listed for front and rear. I am sure I will figure it out when I pull the wheels off, I will post pics, Installing in a few hours.

I would like to recind my previous statement! the rears... easy, front...not easy unless you read how to do it and then they are easy, like 30 min per side!

here is a newbie question, when you lower a car, is there anything more to it than simply swapping out the parts? I thought I had heard you have to realign the rear end??

Yes you need to get a adjustable Pan hard bar and line up the rear end

As cajunss stated you will need anadjustable panhard bar to recenter the body over the rear end. We offer several different style to choose from. Here is a link to our site. If you have any questions please give me a call.

yeah i installed the adj PHB...took all of 3 mins to adjust the rear. and most of that was climbing under the car

so can anyone confirm that you ARE supposed to put the plastic/rubber spacer between the spring and the lower spring perch on the FRONT?

If you are talking about the round black donut pice that sits at the bottom of the spring perch then yes. I think this is called the indexer?
