Default KYB strut mount opinions

Any of you guys used these? I have heard that moog strut mounts aren't all that great. OEM's ain't cheap by any means so I figured these might be a good compromise.

I've had no problems with them, but I've heard of others having them tear.

I have Strut-Mate mounts, the brand that O'Reilly Auto Parts carries that I just installed on my '99 Z28. It wont be seeing any track duty but they seem like well made units.

i have a STB.........got some after market mounts.........found the STB would not fit......the studs in the new mounts were shorter than GM......so the STB could not bolt up.....ended up putting GM back in so i could keep my STB

I bought a pair of the Monroes (strut-mates, BTW), from Advance (I work there part time) and already I had to replace one of the Monroes, as one of the threaded inserts broke loose and started to turn....this as I was installing new springs/shocks.

As "sjsingle1" mentioned, the studs seem shorter than the OE pieces, and I haven't tried putting my STB in yet, as I have other work to do first.....

They may be coming back out, and getting returned for good!

Don't get KYB. The KYB's I purchased did not fit (mount holes did not line up). Ended up going with OEM and they fit perfectly. Problem is that OEM costs about $200 a piece.

i went with kyb and - shock and awe - the studs didnt align with the chassis holes. i just lengthened the hole about 1/32 of an inch with a dremel and it works fine now...the hardest part was getting the master cylinder out of the way lol

The same thing happened with my Strut-Mate mounts. I just reused the mounting nuts from the stock mounts in place of the inserts that came out. Why can't a company make true factory style mounts for $80 - $120/ea? $200 per mount is insane.

Got the local dealership to come down to $144 a piece so ordered them.
