Rotor won't come off!!!
Well first off, the car is a 1998 Camaro Z28 6 speed... I usually pay someone to install new brakes for me, but all the threads on this forum made it sound so easy!!! So I was feeling adventerous and bought the rotors and pads for all four wheels, read up about how to do the install, and thought how hard can it be!? We'll it hasn't been that bad, but I just can't get the rotor off the rear driver's side wheel hub. No, the e-brake isn't on and no, there is no clip on the front of the rotor holding it on. I even went out and bought a 3lb mini sledge hammer to hit the rotor with and I still can't get the stupid thing off!!!
I'm getting really discourage and thinking what did I get myself into.... So guys, what can I do to get this rotor off? It seems like it rusted permanetly on there. I've hit it quite a few times with this metal hammar and it just won't seem to come off. Are there any other options...what do I do?

I'll try hitting it again tomorrow. As far as the pb blaster goes, where do it spray it? Im assuming what I can through the holes in the front of the rotor but do I spray it behind the inside of the rotor too?

Spray everywhere that the rotor comes into contact with any metal studs, hub etc. PB wont hurt anything the more penetration the better, just keep spinning the rotor and hit like hell on the rotor from the inside out and it will come off. I used a 8lb sledge with mine and double handled her and beat it like a bad monkey.

Definitely, you can basically spray any parts of the rotor you want since its being replaced. The rotor is probably just rusted to the hub. What you want to do it hit it with the hammer on the inboard side of the rotor, rotate it 1/4 turn, and hit it again. Keep doing this until it breaks free. If the rotor itself breaks into pieces don't panic, just keep hitting the intact parts until all of it is off!!

After afew hours you probably had it loose already, lol anyway i believe in the right tool for the right job so thats why i used a 8lb sledge. If im lubing it up im gonna beat it like a red headed step child.
P.S I think i know Guido, he does good work

I have never done my own brakes, ever! My Z28s rear brakes were horrible last year and I figured, well I might as well give it a shot and save myself the $150.00 labor at the shop. I fought like hell trying to get the rear discs off. I thought I was doing something wrong, but eventually I got them off. I think I am going to do the brakes on my SS front and rear too.

Since nobody else has recommended this yet, try a couple good whacks on the front of the rotors hub. Sometimes this helps break up the rust that is behind there. You could also try heat if you have it available.
If you plan on doing your brakes again you can drill and tap the rotor in two spots between lug holes. Then the next time you go to do brakes you can run bolts in those holes and they will push against the hub and help break it loose. A very thin coating of anti-seize on the hub surface behind the rotor will also help this from happening again.
