Anyone have pics of a Alston or similar tunnnel mounted torque arm setup . i cant use the G-load brace as the front attach point (3 inch exhaust) nor do i want to use the stock tailshaft mounting. Any help would be appreciated.

Alston does not have a visible email, you would need to call over there and ask for Mike Ruth. I talked to him last week and I know the torque arm is retailing between $300-400. It's a tunnel-mounted setup. You drill a number of holes and the tunnel brace is bolted to the floorpan. The jegs torque arm is a copy of this one. Mike is very busy, so he will only spend about 5 minutes on the phone since he does chassis work all day.

Is there a lot of vibration with this TA? How much abuse can it take? Thanks.

 

Pro Stock John, is there any issues with this torque arm?? Any noise or vibration?? How about any long term issues with the floorpan (such as warping or being disformed due to the stress)?? Thanks man. Sure does look like a good setup!

 

Brad has had his longer than me, and he's cut a 1.41 or something with his.

The Alston fits great with a rearend that has a stock location torque arm mount, it may require some clearancing for a 9". But a 9" can force you to clearance most aftermarket torque arms. I have a 9" and Brad has a 12 bolt.

 

If the torque does make noise, PSJ wouldn't be able to hear it in his car.

Just ordered it. Mike sounds like a good guy.
It was only $315 shipped. Hellava lot better than a 400-500TQ Arm that wont fit my car anyway because of the duals.

 

are there any advantages to a bar being this short over a longer bar that mounts to say the gload brace, like a spohn, or near the tranny, say to a yank crossmember?

 

Others like Sphon or BMR that mount at the G-load brace are probably stronger, ie leverage, but im gettin this one cause thats all i have room for with my exhaust and i dont want to use the tailshaft as the front mount point.

 

Had I not gotten this I would have stuck with my R/T torque arm and either bought a Yank crossmember or had a crossmember custom made that took the torque arm off the tailshaft of the transmission. I had to anyway once I did the T400.

The Alston one bolts in with I forget, 6-10 bolts so it does distribute the force.

 

Does it come in chromoly and is it adjustable? Is it a hard core unit because I want to use it on my street car. I know Madman and Wolfe make a duals friendly TA but they are too hardcore for me. Thanks
