Default Adjust shocks for drag racing?

I just bought some qa1 12 way adjustable shocks to help me hook. My questions are. Do I want the front set to soft and the back set to firm or do I set them both to soft? Also wich way do I turn the ****? + or - for softness?

you need to consider torque twist for the chassis and rear.you want max resistance on the left rear since the engine torque is lifting that side up.and soft on the 3 others shocks to allow those corners to rise as fast as possible for weight transfer .this is where I start with on tuning.I interpet soft as no resistance up and alot of resistance down.

- (counter clockwise) is looser and + (clockwise) is stiffer . Generally a good starting point that I like to use is 2-3 clicks from the softest setiing up front and 2-3 clicks from full stiff out back. You want the front to transfer weight easily and you want the rear to keep pressure on the tire. If you have the rear too loose the car will waste energy squatting rather than going forward.

Start it out at 7 clicks + in the back and 2+ in the front. Then play with it from there. Thats what I did. It will take some playing with it before you get the hook that youre looking for.

for the front, yes. for the rear, the best way is to get a shock relocation mount and have it face towards the front of the car

Mine faced the wheels in the rear prior to installing a drag sway bar.. For clearance I had to turn them with the adj ***** facing the driveshaft.. Easier to adjust with the ***** facing out..

I had the shocks backwards. I took it off and put the other on the left and it works perfect lol. This has been a horrible experience in my garage with no heat and - degrees. And to top it off when I was taking out the shock to change it with the right one I unbolted it from the top and it fell on my phone and broke the screen.

So some of you say make the left rear very stiff and some say make them both stiff and the front loose. What is the best?

Both front shocks should be looser and both rears should be on the stiffer side. I have always generally kept the shock setting identical from side to side. If the car is launching that jacked up that you need to have different settings for the rear shock you are going to need to look into running an anti-roll bar.

Thanks, I have never noticed the left side lifting. It always squats, but I did have a bolt-on auto with stock stall so things have changed a little bit lol

Once you get the car setup get it to the track and let us know how it works, once you do that you can then start fine tuning the suspension for what the car really wants. At this point you are just trying to get the adjustments in an area close to what it really wants.

They will definitely help as far as drag racing goes. The stock lowers are not the best in the drag racing deal and the relocation brackets will help get some ant-squat in the car and put some pressure on the tire which will help with traction and launching.

i thought my car was launching good or how it should until i saw a picture of it at the track when i took off. you could clearly see the left rear higher then the right. car was unloading causing me to lose some time in the 60.

it may feel fine to you but i would get someone to try and take a picture or watch from the back when you take off. on a real good road with traction or w/e and see what it does
