Default need ideas??

I've got a 98 z28 with 151,000 on the car and the suspension is pretty worn from all the west and tear from the car. What are some easy fixes to stiffen the ride for better launch and handling?

Shocks, sways, lower control arms, panhard bar or watts link, torque arm, springs, etc. etc. etc....will all help with launching or handling. Shocks are about the number one thing to help firm the ride up and improve stability, most recommend LCA's to help with launching. All of this information is readily available with a search also, and can probably be found lower down on the page.

What's your budget? I'm assuming it's a street car?

This is the boat I'm in as well man. I daily drive mine 300+ miles a week & its got 160k on the clock. I bought a extra set of upper/lower stock a-arms so I could rebuild them without down time. Here is the info I have for replacement bushing/ball joints:

All parts priced at O'Rielly's:

Moog Front lower control arm bushing kit (2) required $52 each
Moog Front upper control arm bushing kit (2) required $25 each
Moog Front lower ball joint kit (2) required $35 each
Moog upper ball joint kit (2) required $69 each

That will get your front end bushings/ball joints completely replaced. Look into the Bilstein HD shocks for replacements, they can be had for right around $400+shipping for a full set. And if your wanting new springs and a nice drop get the Strano Springs.

For the rear I'm a fan of at least getting adjustable LCA's & adjustable panhard. If you have the money get a adjustable torque arm as well. Then you can fully dial in your suspension. For a daily driver thats not getting tracked alot, your stock torque arm will be just fine though IMO, especially if you dont have the extra cash for a aftermarket torque arm.. If the car will be raced & you upgrade the suspension to aid in that, you better be looking into upgrading the rear end too cause it'll be next to go most likely.

4th gens don't have struts FWIW. What did you replace them with cheap autozone ones? If so that may be part of the problem, Im sure you don't like to hear that but thats part of the reason they are cheap, they don't last and don't offer good dampening.
Do you have any other suspension mods?

^Thats definatly why. Since u were asking about launching, if you dont have lca relocation brackets then get them they'll help, but if your wondering more about the worn suspension then well...

Poor shocks + 2" of drop = crappy ride, crappy handling, and probably a crappy launch. I'd give Sam Strano a call, he's a sponsor on here and has pretty damn good prices on his stuff....plus stands behind them for helping you get the most out of them.

Depending on the springs you have, swapping out the shocks and the springs could really improve the way your car functions, both in handling and launching. Adding in a few other parts could improve things further.

BTW, what all do you have on your car? Vague posts are hard to answer well....
