Default Torque arm bolt help please.

one of the long bolts that connects the torque arm to the rear end is stripped. it will only tighten so much and them become lose again. idk how previous owner did that, im assuming when installing after market arm. lt1 m6 car.

my question is, does anyone happen to know the size bolt that i need so that i can go pick on up at the hardware store. also what type would be most durable to use?

thanks for your help.

send $8 to my paypal and I'll send you one. Or two. I can get it there as fast as I can for the amount of money sent. I'm not sure any hardware store would have them, dealership maybe?

I don't think you will find the right bolt at a hardware store. If it is a stock torque arm, the factory bolts are ok. If aftermarket, I like to use the spohn hardware. The bolts are grade 8 and longer to account for the thickness of aftermarket torque arms. I got them from Byunspeed, spohn #982 I think.

You probably won't find any at the dealer. I just went through this a week ago. GM said they were discontinued. 9/16 x 8 is the size to get. I seriously doubt you'll find any at a hardware store either. A few sponsors sell them with the nuts and washers as a kit for like $20.

Good call. I forgot about them. If they don't have it in store, they can definitely get it for you.

This is where i found mine !I didnt like the play that was in my S60 housing with the new bolts and the next size bolt was to thick for the housing ,,,,so i ran that size drill bit up threw my rear end housing just to open her up just a tad and tapped the new bolts in with anti seize Couldnt be tighter IMO

I'm not real sure I would want the bolts to be super tight. I believe that if the bolt is that tight in the hole, it fatigues the bolt. I realize we're talking about a grade 8 bolt and a large one at that. But I'm pretty sure a slightly looser fit is better. your situation might have been too loose, but I can't say that I have seen that with the grade 8 bolts. The stock bolts due fit loosely because of the tapered shoulder they have on top. The spohn bolts slid right in though, perfect fit and long enough that there are 5-6 threads through the nut.

So what size are the bolt and nut? I noticed that one of the nuts from mine is missing.
