Powersteering pump making loud noise only on startup.
For the past two days now when I start up the car the power steering pump (at least that's where it sounds like it's coming from) makes a very loud whirring/crackle sound that will disappear about two minutes after driving.
Is the pump on its way out? Fluid level is fine.
There's no increase in steering effort, etc.

Could it be the belt and not the pump, something worth trying is Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak. I used this on a 99 SS I once owned with excellent results, removed the fluid with a turkey baster and added the same amout of Lucas.

My car was doing the opposite, it would whine when it was hot. I ended up getting everything replaced including the rack. Its fixed now but the factory power steering is a major weak spot on these cars.

mines whining really loud right now, i replaced the actual pump, but still have the sound there....anything else i could change out to try and get rid of the noise? mine is constand, and gets louder the faster the belt spins...its really annoying...i thought maybe it might be the altenator, but im pulling good voltage...im stumped..
