Default Lowered 1 1/4" and SLP Long Tubes don't mix. Now what?

Hi Guys,

I have a 98' Ws6 which has Eibach springs which lower the car 1 & 1/4 inches.

I recently put on SLP Long Tubes and the clearance between the bottom of where the headers meet and the road is ridiculiously slim.

There is no way I can clear a speed bump at this point. It looks like I need to raise it back to stock height.

Has anyone run into this? What spring/shock combo would you recommend? The car has 50k miles, aftermarket rear trailing arms and panhard rod.

Are there better stock height options then the stock springs? Looks like stock springs are $130 a piece.

Thoughts?

I had the same issue with mine.. my long tubes and y-pipe are about 3-4 inches off the ground...
I just avoid all driveways and speed bumps.. if I see one I take the one wheel at a time...really slow.

SLP headers are notoriously lower than most other brands. We were lowered with them and decided to stay low and switch headers.

Pacesetters got us a good deal of clearance over the SLPs...

Ouch, you had to go from SLP's to pacesetters? Went from top of the price range to the bottom!

I'm in the same boat. Going to change headers.

I have the new style slp headers and I am lowered with bmr spings and koni shocks and dont seem to have a problem. Also if my headers and y pipe where any higher they be touching the car. I have about 3 inchs to the bottom of the cat.I think any long tube headers and being lowered your going to have to be careful going over speed bumps .

Price range doesn't mean much.... We gained HP(small amount), ground clearance and ease of removal/install

Well that's the important thing. Has anyone had any issues with lowered cars and the ARH longtubes?

Pacesetters seem to have more clearance...I have pacesetter longtubes TSP y pipe and am okay over big speed bumps. I'm lowered with the prokit.

...but only after I got the exhaust welded today, was really bad with the shitty clamps the kit came with

The spring aren't issue, the headers are.
Either return the car back to stock height, or get some different headers.

Maybe you don't need to go all the way back to stock spring height. I just raised my car about 1/2" and find that I don't hit nearly as bad as before. I followed the advice below that I found on the forum;

For the front place 1/4" of washers between the lower arm and each lower shock mount bolt holes. This will bring the front up 3/8" to 1/2", but remember you'll still have the same amount of suspension travel as before, not more.

In the rear try around 3ft of 5/8" oil fuel line hose on each side (you want enough to cover 2 full coils). Spray windex in side the hose and quickly push the hose on the spring until the whole hose in is 1 full coil down from the top up of the spring, then reinstall with the factory upper isolator. The should give you around the lift your looking for. Adjust the hose length as needed to get the exact height you want.
